Out of Her League
She was the popular girl. She was the type of girl that you just can't hate because of how kind and selfless she is to everyone - even the kids that are claimed 'below' the popular. She was just that girl that people admired. . .
Except for Ellen.
But that was only because Felix even fell for the girl's spell. He would stare at the girl longingly when she went by - he'd look away embarrassed when she'd send him a bright smile his way. Ellen hated it that her best friend (and crush) fell for someone like her.
"I don't get how you love her!" Ellen complained to him one day. "She's one of the popular kids. The disgusting ones."
"She's not disgusting." Felix murmured absently, eyes flicking to her passing figure. He smiled at her shyly when she glanced his way, looking down at his lap when she smiled at him. "Besides, weren't you the one that fell for Sam's charms yesterday?" Yesterday one of the popular kids, Sam, walked by them. Ellen called him a boy band member, only for him to turn around and smile his charming smile at her, making her smile like the girls at school when an attractive guy notices them.
Ellen huffed at his answer, glaring in the direction the girl went. "It wouldn't work out between the two of you, you know. If you two ever happen to get together -which I doubt- it wouldn't work because of how different you are from each other."
"Yeah," Felix said sadly, "I know it wouldn't work."

Day of excursion. . .
". . .Felix, Andy, and. . .Gwen! Huh, that's an interesting group!" Bates stared down at his page in surprise. People murmured about the fact that popular Gwen was sorted into a group of boys.
Ellen glared at Felix. "You said we would be together!" she hissed. "But no, you wanted to be with Miss Barbie Doll instead."
"He must have changed it!" Felix defended weakly. Sure, he needed to be in a group with the boys, but he couldn't resist it and change Gwen's to be in his group. From what he saw, Bates was going to sort Gwen into Ellen's group and that would not have been nice for either of them.
Felix was torn out of his thoughts when Ellen walked away from him while shoving his shoulder, Gwen walking towards the other three boys that were gathered around already. Felix quickly went to Bates and grabbed a map from the teacher before making his way to his group. Felix suddenly felt nervous approaching them, with his crush being in that group.
Felix has had a crush on Gwen ever since he saw her in Grade 8. He immediately felt drawn to her, and couldn't help but fall for her charms.
He loved how she treated everyone fairly, always making sure they were alright. When the accident with Oscar happened, Gwen surprisingly came to his house with flowers and chocolate, giving them her condolences about the incident. When she had came, Felix felt better after she had visited. She had given him a hug before she left, telling him that everything was going to be okay.
"Hey Felix!" Gwen smiled at him. Felix gave a shy one back.
"Hey, Gwen." he said back quietly.
"How is Oscar?"
"Good. Mum took him to the hospital because he wasn't feeling well."
"Oh." she frowned at his words. "That's too bad." Felix internally kicked himself at making her upset.
"Come on, enough of this yuck fest!" Jake interrupted them. "Let's go before they beat us!"
"It's not a race, Jake." she reminded him patiently, but nonetheless followed after him. Andy approached Felix who was staring at her with a dreamy look on his face.
"Dude. . ." Andy shook his head. "That's not going to work. Even I know it and I don't even do relationships."
"Shut up." Felix huffed, walking after them and leaving Andy behind.

At night. . .
They all huddled together underneath a tree, the boys making sure Gwen was being protected from the rain and the harsh winds. Gwen mattered a lot to people because of how kind and selfless she was. Seeing her in distress or any negativity worried them. . .
Like now.
Even though she was in the middle of the boys, away from the rain, she was still cold and wet and shivering. It went as far as to her lips turning blue.
"Is there any way to make the fire bigger?" Jake asked them all. He stared at Gwen in concern. "Gwen is getting really cold - her lips are blue!"
"From the harsh winds and rain," Andy winced when lightning and thunder came, "I doubt it's even possible."
"I-It's o-okay, g-guys." she stuttered. "I-I'll be f-f-fine."
"We need to get you warmed up, and fast." Sam murmured.
"Here. . ." Felix swapped sides with Andy, and wrapped his arms around the girl. Gwen huddled in close to him, feeling his warmth immediately. She breathed out a shaky sigh in relief, keeping her arms in between the two. Even though he liked the feeling of his arms wrapped around her, he could feel the boys' burning gaze on him. He bravely looked up, immediately met with glares.
"What? I am warmer than the usual human." he defended weakly.
"He's r-right." Gwen stuttered. "You're so w-warm. . ."
"No way -" Jake started in disgust, only to quieten when their fire burned out.
"Well, the blue lips are turning to normal." Andy said after a moment of silence. "I guess he's keeping her warm enough."
***
Ever since that night, the two were exceptionally close - I mean what do you expect, if Felix hadn't kept her warm, she would have died from hyperthermia.
The two helped each other from the shock of their family members not knowing them, and helped along with the demons that were trying to attack them. But for some reason, the demon always tried to go for either Felix or Gwen.
"Why are they going after you?" Jake asked him when they went inside Phoebe's house/store.
"Because of the talisman." Felix answered.
"And Gwen? Why is she always targeted next?" Sam asked, Gwen herself nodding in agreement.
"That, I can answer." Phoebe said, walking in with an old-looking book. She slammed it on the coffee table, flicking to a certain page. They all huddled around her.
"Soulmates." Andy read out. Their eyes widened in disbelief at the title.
"Freak and Gwen? No way." Jake shook his head. "Just because he has a crush on her like any other guy -"
"Look, soulmates are important. When a witch is near their soulmate, they can be more powerful, more supported. But at the same time, can also be a weakness. If Felix won't give the talisman, then they will try to harm his soulmate, thus -"
"Me." Gwen finished. "I am his soulmate."
"I guess it kind of makes sense why I always feel drawn to you more than usual." Felix murmured, only to clear his throat embarrassingly when he realised he said that out loud. "Um. . ."
"Look, you two are soulmates, and every time I see the two of you, you're always looking at one another longingly. So hurry up and get together because another way a witch can be powerful is if they are with the soulmate." Phoebe told the two. "So kiss and be powerful." She even went as far as to shove Gwen in Felix's direction, causing him to catch her before she fell.
"Um. . ." Felix smiled at her shyly. "How about we go on a date tonight?"
"Sure." she returned that shy smile.
"Disgustingly cute." Phoebe commented, the other boys gagging in agreement.

They were finally home. Back in their Bremin.
They found Bates and their fathers in the forest and reunited with them. Not once did Felix and Gwen let go of each other's hands. And they all noticed.
"Is there something going on here?" Bates nodded to their hands. Felix and Gwen gave each other a sly smile, shrugging.
"A lot can happen when you're together for fourteen days." Felix told them with a smirk.
"And before you guys say he is out of my league since I am 'popular' and all, I don't care." Gwen gave his hand a gentle squeeze. "He's my soulmate."
Sam released a low whistle. "Damn that is deep." Everyone laughed at his comment, walking out of the forest together; Felix's arm wrapped around Gwen's shoulders.
Felix released an amused chuckle from beside her when they were making their way to their fathers' cars. "What?" Gwen asked curiously.
"You know how your family is joining mine to that barbecue?" Felix told her. When she nodded he continued on to what he was saying. "Ellen is going to be there. And she told me before we went into that forest that we would never work if we dated." Felix chuckled again. "Oh how wrong she is."
"When really, we're perfect for each other." Gwen giggled.
"But still," he placed a kiss to her temple, "I think you're too perfect for me. I'm out of your league."
"Never think that, Felix Ferne. Never think that."
