Chapter 50

My throat was hurting a bit and that retched medicine didn't work for me at all. Michael had left to go upstairs.

Calum came back and I said to him, "Congrats, Calum. I think you just poisoned me some more with that disgusting medicine you fed me. Now I only have 24 hours left to live. What do you have to say for yourself?"

He smiled, shrugged his shoulders, and said, "Woo hoo," doing a small dance with his hands.

I gaped my mouth wide open and gasped. He started laughing and I shook my head in disappointment.

He then said, "I'm kidding! You have to wait for the medicine to kick in, Nicole. It's not going to work right away."

"Then when will it work?" I asked annoyingly.

He said, "In about 20 minutes."

I groaned and said, "20 minutes? What's up with that? Why would they make medicine that works in 20 minutes?? I mean, I don't need to be cured in 20 minutes. I need to be cured now! It's 2016 and they haven't created medicine that works -- *snaps fingers* -- just like that? Come on, people!"

Luke came downstairs and said, "What's going on down here?"

Calum replied calmly, "Nicole's just ranting about the people of this world and how they haven't created medicine that works right away."

Luke said, "Sure they have. There's lots of them."

"Oh, yeah? Name some," I said.

"Hmm, let me think," Luke started, "Pepto Bismol, Xanax, Breathe Right..."

I interrupted him and said, "Yeah? Well I don't have heartburn, anxiety, or breathing problems!"

Both Luke and Calum laughed their heads off at what I just said, but I was dead serious.

"What?" I said, "I'm serious." I sniffled and realized my nose was getting really stuffy and it actually started to change my voice a bit.

"Okay, Nicole. We're sorry," Said Luke, "Just hang tight. Turn the TV on or something."

I crossed my arms, turned my head and said, "There's nothing to watch."

Calum: How would you know? You haven't even checked.

Nicole: It's 9:00 in the morning. Nothing's on at this time.

Luke: Why are you so grumpy?

Nicole: (coughs) Because I'm sick!

PLEASE READ: Sorry for the late update!!! OMG, I'm so far away from the present and I keep on getting these great ideas for the book but I can't use them because there's too much stuff going on like Nicole being sick and her bed being gone and her grad coming up. Like, it's summer already in the present and I just really want to fast forward to the present day in summer where she has 2 months off school. Think I can do that?
