I honestly can't wait for high school now! I have all my stuff ready and I'm so excited!

I looked through my stuff on my bed and opened pretty much everything. It took me about 5 minutes until Ashton walked into my room and said, "Oh, my god. What did you get?"

"Lots of stuff!" I said excitedly.

"I can see that," said Ashton as he walked into my room. He stood beside my bed and picked up a pretty pink Revlon hair brush I got.

"What's this for?" Asked Ashton.

Of course, a sarcastic answer was definitely called for. But before I could say anything, Ashton quickly said, "Never mind! I know what it is!" I laughed.

Ashton continued, "I came in here to tell you when your orientation day is." I looked up with wide eyes because I was totally ecstatic about going to high school.

"When is it?" I asked.

"Well you start school in 6 days so your orientation is in 2," he replied.

"Yay!" I said.

Ashton smiled at my happiness. I guess it made him happy too. Ashton then left my room and I was alone in my room playing with the stuff I got.

AFTER 45 MINUTES PLAYING WITH STUFF I GOT

I yawned. It was 3:68. This day was going by slow! I wanted to rest. Take a nap.

Little did I know that Michael was standing outside my door when I yawned, and he said, "Have you been watching How It's Made?"

I looked at him and laughed. Good joke. "No, I'm just bored. The day's going by really slowly," I told Michael.

"Well you're more than welcome to take a nap, but I wanted to talk to you first," he said seriously.

"Uh, okay. What about?" I asked curiously.

He walked in and said, "Just so you know, I had no say at all in these rules. This was Ashton, Calum, and Luke. They talked about it without me and I guess they just wanted me to give you the heads up."

"What is it?" I asked.

He sighed and began, "They say that they want you to know that now that you're in grade 9, you can't be... you know... friends with any boys."

I paused for a second and just stared at Michael. "Wait... What?" I said confused. Where did this even come from? Did they literally just think this up out of the ordinary?

Michael said, "Don't feel bad about it, Nicole. It's just that... they said in elementary school it was okay because you were young and they found it cute. Now you're in high school and guys are more likely to pressure you into doing things you don't want to do, if you know what I mean."

I was quiet.

He continued, "And the reason it's guy friends in general is because it's guys in general that can pressure you into these stuff, you know what I mean? Pretty much the point is, that they want you to remain friends with your own gender."

Wow. My own gender. How nice.

To be honest, I understood completely. I know, it's shocking but I mean, they were right sadly. High school can be intimidating like that.

I said to Michael with a bit of sadness in my voice, "Okay."

He paused and said, "Wait... You mean, you're okay with it?"

I looked at him and said, "Well yeah. I mean, if those are the rules, then those are the rules. It's fine."

"Wow," he said.

"What?"

"It's just that... the reason I was the one to break it to you was because the guys thought if they told you, you'd freak out and cause an argument," he said simply.

"They thought that?" I asked surprised.

"Well yeah, but it's okay. I'm sure their judgement will change after I tell them your response to the news. It's good you understand now, Nicole," and before I could even say anything, Michael went downstairs to tell the boys the news.
