Chapter 55

Eventually lunch came around and we all had sat around the table to eat. I didn't want to eat though. I played around with my food a bit because I was absolutely disgusted seeing Arzaylea in our house acting like she's a princess and Luke's her prince. The only people really talking were Luke and Arzaylea.

"And I was thinking about visiting Tiguan this weekend. She's having a baby shower. Oh, did I tell you that it was a girl?" Said Arzaylea all giddy-like.

They were sitting on the other side of the table beside Michael and I just glared at those two with the most beady eyes.

Seating Arrangement:
        Luke | Arzaylea | Michael
Ashton | Nicole | Calum

Luke replied, "No, you didn't. Tell her that I said Congratulations."

"I sure will," said Arzaylea. I rolled my eyes.

Arzaylea said, "I'm sure she will appreciate that coming from you, Luke." Luke smiled and she said, "You are so cute." That's when they kissed each other on the lips.

I mumbled under my breath, "Disgusting, I'm trying to eat."

Both Ashton and Calum nudged me at the same time and I got startled because they were such aggressive nudges. I looked at them to see them glaring down at me. Then I looked across from me and saw Michael was staring at me too.

Little had I known that Calum, Michael, and Ashton were all staring at me the entire time and they had seen all of my sassy facial expressions that I was making at Luke and Arzaylea. They just stared at me in disapproval. I shrugged my shoulders and lip synced, "What?"

Ashton lip synced back, "Behave."

I sat there playing with my food some more and Arzaylea decided to say something to me.

"So, Nicole. You're going to high school soon. Are you excited?" she said. She thought I was stupid but I knew what she was doing. She knew I would try to disrespect her because of what happened before and then I'd get in trouble. But no. I'm going to play it safe.

"Yeah, I'm really excited," I said with a fake smile on my face. I looked down at my food keeping the smile, then at Michael, and then at Calum. Calum could totally tell that my smile was fake. He could just read my mind. The way he was looking at me seemed so menacing as if he was sure that I was trying to sabotage Arzaylea in some way. He just didn't know how.

Calum's POV

I was about to take a bite on my food until Arzaylea asked Nicole a question. I looked up and expected to hear an answer from Nicole. And when she did answer, I knew something was going on. The smile she had on her face when she looked at me was just so uncaring. I had no idea why Nicole didn't like Arzaylea because last time she came they were the best of friends. I mean, Arzaylea helped her through her period. Why would she hate her now? But nevertheless, I had no doubt that Arzaylea might have something to do with Nicole's hate towards her.

I stared at Nicole with confusion on my face.

I just hope this situation won't turn out to be like Britney. That would just be a total let down for Luke.

Nicole's POV

I didn't care how anyone was looking at me. I was waiting for Arzaylea to continue the conversation so I could say something else.

She said, "What have you chosen for your courses?"

"Nothing yet," I said with the same fake smile.

"Grade 9 was tough for me. I wasn't the smartest kid in school. I failed just about everything... But thank God I was hot. Being the prettiest girl in school got me through it. Back then, I had just about every kid in the school as my friend because I was pretty."

"Doubt it," I accidentally said. I raised my eyebrows and everyone's heads all turned towards me. "I mean! Uh, I doubt that you failed everything in school. Hehe. Because you seem so smart today."

I could just hear Calum, Ashton, Michael, and even Luke's shoulders relax as they sighed in relief.

Arzaylea smiled at me and said, "Why, thank you, Nicole. That's so sweet. I'm sure you'll get through high school even if you're not the prettiest girl in the world." Then everyone looked at Arzaylea with confused faces, as what she said did actually come off a slight bit offensive. But she didn't panic. She continued her sentence by saying, "But that's not the case, is it? Because you are the prettiest girl in the world. If you weren't though, it wouldn't matter anyway is what I'm trying to say." She ended off her big finale save with a big teethy smile and a head tilt. I did the same thing but inside, I was a raging bull.
