Chapter 27

After texting Georgia, I made the decision to text a friend that wouldn't interrogate me on Matthew; CHLOE. But before I could even text Chloe, I got a text from... MATT?!? All it said was, "I'm sorry". Nothing else. Just those two words. I was angry and I didn't know whether to text back or not. I waited to see if he would text anything else but he didn't. So then I was kinda desperate to respond. Not that I wanted him back or anything! For all the people outside know, I broke up with him. I sent back an emoji: 😑. Perfect. Then he texted me, "What's that supposed 2 mean?"

Nicole: just stop txting me ok Matthew?

Matt: I can explain everything Nicole. I'm sorry for breaking it off

Nicole: what is there 2 explain? It's over. Remember?

Matt: not about our break up. About my behaviour

Nicole: oh plz.

Matt: Can I just explain?

I didn't want him to explain, so I blocked him and put my iPod on my bed. And I just stared at it. No explanation could explain the way he snapped at me. It was such a harsh break up. I want this all to be over. I wonder if he's seen eNews. He probably has. Maybe that was what he wanted to talk about too. I just can't think about this right now. I have to tell the guys. I went downstairs and took a deep breath. They were all in the living room. It was weird how they all teleport from one place to another so fast. First they were in the living room, then they weren't, and now they are again. Whatever. They weren't even watching TV. They were just laughing at random things while the TV was just on. I didn't wanna burst their bubbles and turn their smiles upside down. To be honest, I feel like when I walk into a room, I always have to tense things up. I'm just that kind of person who doesn't live a happy life so I always ruin everyone else's by bombarding them with my emotions. I never even realized it. I was about to go back upstairs until Luke called me back and said, "Hey, Nicole, where have you been?" They all stopped laughing. Great, I've already tensed things up. Ugh, how do I un-tensify things? Erghhh! I replied, "Uhh, I was just up in my room." That didn't help.

Michael: Doing what?

Nicole: On my iPod.

Ashton: Well okay. But I think you should come hang out with us down here. Its not right for you to be somewhere else while everyone's having fun.

Nicole: Um, okay.

At this point, I knew I had already taken away their happiness and laughter for the moment and there was no way for them to get it back as long as I'm in the room so I just told them about Matthew. I said, "Um, so I was texting Matthew." They all looked at me.

Calum: What? Why?

Calum's POV

Containing my anger whenever Matthew comes up in the conversation is tough. I can't believe he actually broke up with Nicole. He seemed to like her so much and yet, he hated her right that second. Now I hate Matthew.

Nicole's POV

"Well he texted me first," I said. Ashton looked angry. And it didn't seem like he was angry at Matthew. He was angry at me. "Nicole, you should've blocked Matthew when he broke up with you first. Don't be talking to him," he said.

Nicole: He said he needed to explain something to me but I didn't let him. I blocked him like, 10 minutes ago.

Ashton: Doesn't matter! You and him are done, remember? All of this needs to stop!

Nicole: No, you need to stop, Ashton! You're freaking out at me for no reason!

Ashton: I have a reason! You just don't understand, Nicole.

Nicole: Yes, I do! Clearly you don't think that I've been through enough at school and eNews is eventually going to find out that I DIDN'T BREAK UP WITH MATTHEW! Remember, Ashton? Or did you get too caught up in the lie that we told?

Ashton: We didn't tell any lie, Nicole --

Nicole: Just stop, Ashton.

Ashton: Hey, okay, I'm sorry, Nicole, but don't blame any of this on me. Matt broke your heart, didn't he?

Nicole: And you're just shoving it in my face.

Michael: He's not trying to, Nicole.

Nicole: I know that. But right now...

And Nicole strikes again, putting tension where it doesn't belong.

"I think Carson's looking better than Matthew at the moment."
