Before going up the staircase and into my room, Calum approached me and said, "Hey, Nicole." I looked at him and said, "Hey." It sounded like he wanted to tell me something.

Calum's POV

I thought, "Nicole doesn't sound mad at me. Maybe she forgot about the whole thing." I was going to ask her about school.

Nicole's POV

"You're going to high school soon and I need to know if you're ready," said Calum.

"Ready as in what?" I asked.

"I mean, do you have books, a bag, you know what I mean."

"Well I have my old back pack but -- "

"You want a new one?" Asked Calum.

I replied, "Uhhh, sure. Yeah."

"Okay, and what about binders? You're going to need binders in high school," he said.

"I don't have any. We'll have to buy some of those. Oh! And can we get some decoration things for my locker? I want it to be pretty," I asked excitedly.

"We'll see," said Calum, "You wanna take a trip to the dollar store with me?"

"Sure," I said.

AFTER SHOPPING

I walked through the door and Luke looked at me like he'd just seen a ghost. "Jesus Chri -- I mean, oh, my god. Why do you have so many bags?" He asked surprised.

My arms were filled up and down by tons of grocery bags that we had bought for me.

And you want to know how many bags Calum was holding? Three. Three bags. But that's okay, because I chose to hold all my stuff. I was just so excited!

I answered Luke by saying, "We went shopping for school supplies."

"I don't think all of those are supplies, Nicole," said Luke as he began to walk towards me. I put the bags down and he picked a random one up and started to look through it.

His hand rummaging through all the new stuff in the bag, he pulled out a mini purse and said, "This is a school supply?"

"Sure, it is. I can keep money and things in there," I said.

"That's what a backpack and a locker is for, Nicole," said Luke.

"Maybe for guys," I replied.

He then began to rummage through some more and pulled out a curling wand.

He showed it to me with furrowed eyebrows and said, "Really, Nicole? Really?"

Now I was started to get embarrassed. I began to notice a lot of these things weren't exactly all school supplies.

Meanwhile, Calum was standing beside me smirking for some odd reason that I had no idea about.

Luke said, "Nicole, you really don't need all this stuff. I mean, you're being spoiled."

I was about to say something to defend myself until Luke quickly added, "I don't mean it like that, Nicole." I didn't have anything to say after that.

Luke looked at me, paused for w second, then had a small smile form on his face. He continued, "Well on the bright side, now all we have to get for your birthday is a cake," as he started to walk away.

Calum chuckled and I said, "Wait, wait, wait. No, no. That's not right."

"Oh, sure it is," began Luke, "These are all your early birthday presents, Nicole. Don't you know?"

"Well why would you give me them BEFORE my birthday?" I said.

"You're the one that picked them out," laughed Luke.

I scoffed and began to whine.

Calum then said, "He's just kidding, Nicole. You have nothing to worry about."

My smile was put back on my face by Calum's words and I grabbed all the bags again bringing them upstairs to my room.
