Chapter 81

"Wait, Luke, do you know the answer?" I said to Luke.

"No, sorry, Nicole," he replied.

Without hesitation, I said, "How good is Arzaylea at math?"

Luke looked at me for a moment, then at Ashton. They were both surprised that I was even considering her as an option.

Luke said, "Uhh, I'm not sure. She seems pretty good. But... are you really planning on asking her for help?"

I walked toward the door while replying, "Well yeah. I mean, it can't be that bad. What's the big deal?" Then I walked straight out and looked for Arzaylea.

Luke's POV

"This really makes me wonder what kind of friends Nicole has at school," I told Ashton.

"Why? You think they'd be a positive influence on her or something and that's what's making her do this?" He replied.

"No, I mean I wonder if she's friends with some drug dealers 'cause she must be high to actually want to talk to Arzaylea," I said.

Nicole's POV

I found Arzaylea in the kitchen eating a bag of chips. Boy, this really is sort of her house now.

I took a deep breath and then said, "Arzaylea?"

She looked up and saw me and was like, "Nicole, hi. What's up?"

"Um, I was kind of wondering if you..." It took me a lot of strength to actually talk to Arzaylea. I'm not really her friend, and I've barely ever been nice to her sooo it wasn't exactly easy. "... if you could help me with my math homework?"

She raised her eyebrows and said, "Oh, yeah, of course I can." She seemed happy and just as surprised as Luke and Ashton that I was talking to her. And believe me, it surprised me too.

I handed her my textbook and showed her the question to see if she knew it. I was worried that she wouldn't know it, 'cause then it would be super awkward and I would've talked to Arzaylea for no reason.

Arzaylea's POV

I really hoped I could figure out the question or else it would be super awkward and Nicole would've come to me for no reason. 😬

Nicole's POV

I waited about 45 seconds before Arzaylea said to me, "Okay, I think I know the answer." My face lit up. Thank God!

She explained to me what to do and within seconds, I understood the question. Wow. Who knew Arzaylea could actually be SMART? Smarter than Luke, Calum, and Ashton? Well actually, it's not that surprising that she's smarter than Luke, Calum, and Ashton. Everyone's smarter than them. But I'm surprised she's smart in general. I'm starting to see Luke's point of view on things and why he likes Arzaylea so much. ☺️
