It's been two months since Violet left. I am Dacre's successor and I, Andrew Storm, am not fit to rule the creatures of the night. Already turmoil has struck and I have failed him. He thought he put his people in good hands but I know he made a mistake. There was so much I did not know. I felt ignorant and lost, but thanks to Daniel I have caught up. Nick hates me with a burning passion because he was supposed to be Dacre's successor, but Dacre declared me as his successor as his dying decree. I have so much responsibility, and there is too much pressure. Daniel tries advising me when I have to make official announcements about rules or important updates. I've changed so much, I feel ten times wiser than I should be and have been forced to grow up. I don't think Violet would recognize me if we ever bumped into each other again because my hair is different now. But Violet is not my priority. She is just an undercover agent for us.
A war is about to break out, and it is all because I couldn’t accept who I am; a bloodsucking vampire. I announced that vampires could not kill on castle grounds, and vampires who feed upon humans have to find humans who are going to die from sickness or from old age and are ready to go. Vampires have to drink in the woods if they live on castle grounds. And to the vampires who choose a vegetarian lifestyle, such as me, may feed however they like… That was my declaration, and it has caused chaos throughout the community.
The Nobles, especially the Nobles who have been around for centuries, find my statement disturbing and find that I am changing what a vampire truly is; whereas those vampires, who had no choice in becoming this monster, are relieved from my announcement. Vampires all around are splitting into two groups. Daniel has told me not to worry because that was his job. I am scared though, and if I take back my announcement…that will still cause chaos. I feel even worse because ever since I was forced to drink from Sabina, I've craved human blood like never before.
"Andrew! Alarming news has come our way." Sabina said rushing in.
"What now?" I growled.
"Sir, Nick has fled the castle, and he is a special vampire like you with his power to shape shift into a wolf. He swore that he is going to lead the Nobles against you. He left this note for you." Sabina said giving me the note.
Dear Andrew,
It's Nick! I'm leaving this bloody place…or shall I say bloodless place. I was supposed to be the true ruler of the vampires, but you rule due to Dacre's delusions of death. I vow that I will round up all the Nobles and lead them against you and your weak kind. Expect no sympathy from me; I will slaughter all your kind with no hesitation.
Sincerely, Nick
"Tell no one of this yet," I said directed to Sabina before she left, "Daniel!" I called.
"Yes Andrew?" Daniel said appearing before me bowing his head.
"Please look up. Read this." I said handing Daniel the note.
