Nick had gotten back to us saying we will meet in two days. Daniel reported this to the Elders and they have agreed to meet with us overseeing it so there is no injustice and fighting. We need to get this issue settled before the vampire meeting in front of everyone. Daniel seemed quite happy for once. He must have been so worried until now. Finally something was going right during my rein. I wondered who would succeed me, and wondered if I would choose right. I quickly pushed that thought away so I wouldn’t think of an early death. I tried to keep positive, I had to or else the people would know something's wrong. Sabina came in with a smile, she must have heard about the meeting with the Elders. I nodded acknowledging her happiness and continued to think about how the meeting would go. I walked slowly to my room thinking of every possibility so I was ready. I heard people though out the castle starting to run around and starting to talk.
Laughing to myself, I started to write down what I was going to say. I heard a phone ring somewhere in the castle and heard it coming closer. Daniel was beside me with the caller ID saying Violet. I immediately answered.
"Violet?"
"Yes, it's me. I heard what happened, I am so sorry about all that." She said with concern in her voice.
"No worries, it's under control now, I have called to find out about the hunters." I said hoping for good news.
"We are attacking in a week…"
"What? That will be during the annual meeting with all of the strongest, skilled, and important vampires!" I said in horror.
"Well, that is when we are attacking…Sorry about the timing. But they are thinking about attacking the castle… Is this annual meeting held at the castle?"
"No…it is held under the castle. There is a certain rock that covers the opening to a tunnel that leads to an underground castle…"
"Oh, well, they don't know about the underground thing so as long as you are out of the castle they will attack nothing…" Violet said unsurely.
"They will start to wonder where all the vampires are…they will start to search and I cannot have them find us… How many are coming to attack?"
"One hundred or so…"
"Okay so, I will make some vampires stay and defend the castle…or something, I will figure it out. Just make sure you do your part, and I will fulfill mine." I said.
"Alright, well, I have to go. I will do all that I can to keep them from this secret tunnel." Violet said before hanging up.
I immediately called a meeting in the dining hall. Once everyone arrived, I notified them of the current situation and the plan. Most were reluctant to stay at the castle while the annual meeting occurred beneath with the most important vampires of our time, but eventually agreed.
"But won't the vampires beneath us hear everything that is going on?" Blade asked.
"Yes… they will…I guess I forgot…" I said feeling defeated.
"Andrew, I mean no disrespect when I say this, but most vampires live for fights, especially the older ones. Fighting and winning gives more honor to their name, I mean they aren’t the most important and well-known vampires for nothing. I think an announcement should be sent out, and make it more like a party after the meeting. I will make the invites and send them out if that is alright with you?" Daniel asked.
"Yes, thank you, please do that." I said as Daniel left to go make the invitations.
"Alright, any other concerns or situations?" I asked.
"Where shall I be?" Sabina asked.
"You shall stay here and defend the castle until the rest of us come to help." I said.
"Alright, then get training! All of you go to the basement and train, but don't enter Ellie's dungeon, I have changed my mind. I shall release her during the attack." I said as I led everyone down to the basement.
As we walked down the cold stone stairs we entered a hall with dungeon cells running down to a big circular opening. I walked past Ellie to the opening and everyone started to pair off into partners. Blade offered to be mine, and we trained together pushing each other to the limits. We spent the whole afternoon training, and when I was heading up Ellie called out to me. I ignored her knowing better. I told the kitchen staff to get her some food so she wouldn’t die before the fight.
We were meeting with the Elders and Nick tomorrow, so I decided to rest early, rehearsing my side of the argument in my head as I drifted to sleep. When I woke up it was early in the morning and I could hear Daniel rushing about making sure everything was going smoothly. The Elders and Nick would be here soon. I got up and tried to make my messy hair just a little but neat, and put on a clean pair of clothes. I went out to the woods and caught a rabbit sucking its lifeless body dry. Wolves were passing by and I decided to throw the dead rabbit to them. They sniffed it curiously and one took a bite.
Speeding back to the castle Daniel found me and made sure my appearance was alright for the Elders and then went over some key points that I would mention. It was almost noon when they arrived. Daniel escorted the Elders to the dining hall, and Nick arrived about five minutes later.
