"I was at a friend's house."
"So you pretend to go home sick to hang out with a hunter? Why?" Luke asked.
"Trust me when I say I needed to. But don't worry it's not like it's going to happen again, so calm down."
"It better not happen again, I don't want you to be confused about the side your on." Luke said.
"Gosh why don't you guys trust me? You and Andy are like 'I don’t want you to be confused' and I don't know why you're worried." I said.
"We just don't want you to feel torn." Luke explained.
"I don't. I am fine. Anyways, did I miss much?" I asked.
"No, not really. Nothing to worry about anyways."
"Can we play now?" Alex asked.
"Yes, we can." I said as Alex pulled me into the kitchen where scrabble was laid out.
Luke continued to play with Alex, while I made us dinner. Once dinner was ready we all sat down at the table. I made Alex one of his favorites, his dinosaur chicken. I had to admit it was weird having blood in the fridge… but I guess I'll get used to that. Once dinner was over Luke took our plates and washed them even though I told him he didn’t have to.
"Violet…" Alex said as he tugged at my shirt.
"Yeah Alex?"
"You aren’t going to leave again are you?" Alex said with innocent eyes.
"I won't leave again, and if I do, I will take you." I said which put a smile on his face.
"Yay! Can Luke come also?" Alex asked, his eyes shining.
"Of course!" I said smiling back at him, then looking at Luke.
"Good! When its Christmas break can we go on vacation?" Alex asked.
I looked at Luke, and he shrugged. I didn’t know what to tell Alex… I mean I do have my saving, and what my parents left me safely tucked away and untouched…
"Sure, why not. I think I've got some money saved up somewhere." I said ruffling Alex's hair.
Alex then smiled and went upstairs. Luke walked over me with a shy smile. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. Alex was just too cute to say no too. Luke intertwined his fingers through mine and kissed me gently. I smiled as he kissed me. I kissed him back and he put his hands around my waist and pulled me closer. Soon we were making out until I heard Alex scream upstairs. I immediately pulled away and dashed up to Alex's room. I found Alex crying in his bed. Luke was soon behind me.
"Alex, sweetie what's wrong?" I asked.
"I had a bad dream." Alex said and cried even harder.
"Oh come here. It was just a dream. Everything is alright, Luke and I are here." I said as he hugged me and continued to cry.
I picked him up even though he was getting bigger and held him tightly. I rubbed my hand on his back and whispered "shhh, its okay now" in his ear. I looked at Luke for an explanation, but Luke just shrugged.
"Hey Alex, why don't you sleep with me? Does that sound good?" I asked as I put him down. He nodded and held onto my waist and refused to let go.
"Luke…" I said expecting an answer.
"While you were gone he had a couple nightmares…and he acted like this…" Luke said softly.
"Why didn’t you tell me? What were they about?" I asked.
"He never told me…" Luke said as he picked Alex up and we went into my room and sat on my bed.
Luke lied down with Alex beside him, while I lied on the other side of Alex so he was in the middle. Alex finally stopped crying. I felt Alex tugging at my shirt.
"Yes Alex?" I asked.
"Can I call you mommy?" He asked so innocently with wet eyes. I almost cried seeing him like that.
