The King, The Enemy, and the Wars[Sequel to The Slayer]

Chapter 7

"No! We always fought, and we like hate each other." I defended.

"Okay, just wondering because I see that you have sympathy for him." Luke said looking away.

"Look, I didn’t want to see him get killed or changed, that's all." I said walking away from him.

                I sat down by myself and started to eat when Trace came in. I met his eyes and saw fear for a second, but it soon was replaced by a mask of toughness. He walked in with attitude and saw down on the couch and ate. Luke, meanwhile, was staring him down. Luke, Trace and I finished lunch around the same time. Trace got a call once we put our dishes away and shot us a glance and sped off down the stairs. Luke gave me a look saying "don't follow him", but of course I had to follow. I found Trace near the practice rooms in their own separate hall. I stayed on the other side of the corner so he wouldn’t know I was there.

"What is it Ellie? I'm at school, remember?" Trace said obviously annoyed at her.

"I know what Vlad wants, okay? And I am doing it… Stop pestering me! I know my job, okay! You don't need to tell me what to do since you got captured by those vermin." Trace said and hung up.

                All of the sudden my phone started to ring. I cursed under my breath and ran for it. I answered it once I was safe, I answered the phone.

"Hey it's Vince. I just got news about the war, and there is a scout going around recruiting vampires." Vince explained.

"Yes, there is a war, and there was also an attack on the castle where the vampires started fighting each other while the hunters were there fighting too. It was extremely chaotic." I said.

"Well, I've been thinking about joining the war…but then I would be leaving Greg…and I know that you want someone there for him."

"How could you leave your family and your friends again? There isn’t an excuse this time."

"Look, I wouldn’t really have to leave exactly…"

"What do you mean?" I asked suddenly lost.

"I would just be moving from city to city in Florida where we are needed." Vince explained.

"Right… Look, it's up to you, it's your choice, and if you do decide to join the war just let me know and let Greg know. Speaking of Greg how is he?"

"He graduated a year early, he took courses over the summer and since that wasn’t enough credit he took his GED test and passed, graduating. He was actually talking to me about going to visit you soon; he just needs to save up a bit more for the ticket."

"Are you kidding! That would be amazing, but I don't want him spending his money to get over here. Wait, so is he going to college?"

"I don't think he wants to… but you would have to talk to him. Oh and when I told him that you and Luke were together he was alright about it, so don't worry about that. He also was hoping to meet his half brother, but I told him that he was in Transylvania."

"Woah…Okay, that is a lot. Um, maybe I can reach Jason, and he can get a ticket for Greg so he can visit… and maybe I can get a hold of Andy and tell him that Greg wants to visit him."

 "C'mon, you know Greg won't accept something like that. He wouldn’t even let me help out by giving him a twenty. He only needs a couple more dollars, so don't worry about it."

"Fine, I won't worry. How long is he going to stay?"

"I don't know, but he plans to go to Transylvania after and find Andy."

"How is he going to find Andy? I mean, does he understand the situation that’s going on?"

"I tried telling him, but he wants to see Andy." Vince said.

"Okay, I got to go though; I'll talk to you later okay? Keep me updated." I said before hanging up.

                I turned around and ran right into Trace. He smirked at me.

"Who was that?" He asked curiously.

"It was a friend."

"So what were you talking about?" He pushed.

"Nothing. Just talking, catching up." I said moving aside. He mimicked me and I finally grabbed his arm and threw him out of my way.

"No violence in school Violet!" Trace yelled as I walked away.

                Walking to my locker I saw Luke waiting there. I looked at him in confusion but continued to walk to him. He smiled when he saw me coming.

"Hey, so was it worth it to spy on Trace?"

"Kind of, and also, Vince is thinking about joining the war, and Greg graduated and is coming to visit soon. Just thought I would keep you updated." I said smiling.

"I'm lost…"

"Vince called me."

"Got it. But what did you learn from Trace?"

"Not much, just that Vlad is planning something…" I said trailing off into thought.

"What? What is he planning? Another attack?" Luke asked frantically.

"I don't know, calm down. Anyways I got to get to class." I said grabbing my books from my locker.

                French went by in a flash, and when I got to photo the teacher wasn’t there but there were students talking trash to someone. I looked around and saw Trace being verbally attacked by everyone.
