Chapter 31

"Okay, so Trace you need to go to the universities website and memorize as much information as possible, and try to do any research on genetics. Violet, make sure Trace has a taser and knows how to work it, and have all the weapons that you told me you would have," Blade instructed.

"Alright, I'm going to go home and do my homework, I will see you tomorrow," Trace said before leaving.

"You can stay in the guest room," I told Blade as I led him upstairs to the room.

"Thank you," Blade said and went in.

                The next day Blade was explaining everything to Jason and assuring him that I would be safe. Jason made sure that I had everything I needed and was ready to do this. Trace showed up around six and he practiced his speech on the school and his interest in genetics to us and Blade approved.

"Alright, be careful. Bruce might suspect you already or something, so just don't act weird or suspicious," Blade warned.

"Alright, well we are ready to go," I assured.

                Trace hopped in the driver's seat and I got in shot gun while Blade was in the back seat. The window was down in the back when we arrived at the house, and Blade jumped out and went through the gates as we went through. Trace parked and Bruce answered the door this time.

"Welcome," Bruce said with a smile.

"Hi, my name is Trace, it's a pleasure to meet you," Trace said.

"You too, Trace," Bruce said shaking Trace's hand.

                Bruce led us to the dining room and we all sat down as the butler came in and brought out an assortment of drinks. Trace started the conversation about the university, and Bruce was happy to see Trace so enthusiastic about college. Bruce started telling Trace some funny stories about things that have happened. Bruce started to talk to me during dinner about what college I thought about going to.

"I really have no idea, but after hearing Trace and you talk about Fairfield University I might just want to go there now," I said with a smile.

"Yes, it is a good university. So Violet and Trace tell me about yourselves," Bruce said.

"Um okay, hmm what is there to tell… I am an only child and I live with my father and Violet and I go to the same school," Trace said.

"And I am also an only child and I live with Jason and yeah…" I said awkwardly.

                Just then the doorbell rang and the butler answered the door.

"Who is there Charles?" Bruce called.

"No one Sir," Charles responded.

"No one? Excuse me for just a moment," Bruce said getting up.

"Okay, if Bruce comes back before I get back I went to the bathroom, but you warn me okay," I said as I put my ear piece in as Trace did the same.

"I'll warn you," Trace said.

                Opening the basement door I dreaded going back down there as I turned my flashlight on. At the bottom of the stairs I turned the lights on and I was met with the same creepy lab I saw the last time. I quickly went over to the book shelf, and pulled the book out and the door opened. The two people were still chained.

"Hello," I said.

"Who are you?" the woman asked.

"Not important, I am here to get you guys out," I said.

"What? No you can't," the man said.

"Why not?"

"Why are you here, who are you? Does Bruce know you're down here?" the woman persisted.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"His sister," She snapped.

"But you're supposed to be dead…but you aren't, you're a vampire," I said not too shocked by the possibility.

"Yes I am."

"Why are you chained up?" I asked.

"Because I am a danger to humans, I should be locked up or killed," she said as tears formed in her eyes.

"No, you can drink from animals. Please let me release you two," I said as I approached them.

"Stay away from him girl!" the woman warned.

                I then took a closer look at the muscular unshaven man, but I did not see anything wrong with him until I looked in his eyes. They were not vampire eyes at all.

"Let her free me, stop scaring her, we need to escape," he said.

"What is Bruce doing to you guys?"

"What I did to him and others, trying to find a cure for the super naturals," the woman said referring to the chained man.

"You mean Vampires?"

"Well yes, but others too," She said which made me confused.

"Vi, he is coming back," Trace said in my ear.

"I'll be back as soon as I can," I said as I was about to leave, but the man grabbed me.

"Don’t! Let her go or else!" the woman hissed.

                I immediately grabbed a stake and he laughed. I then thought of the flower Blade gave me and pulled the vial out pushing the top off and he suddenly let me go and backed as far away as he could and he started to growl, and I left as fast as I could, not forgetting to put the book back and turning the lights off.

"Vi, he went to go see if you're okay, please tell me you're in the bathroom!" Trace hissed.

                I was about to reach the top of the stairs when the doorknob started to turn, so I headed back down and hid behind a tall box. Someone walked down and turned on the lights. I peeked my eyes around the box and saw Bruce walking towards the book case. The man looked angry when he saw Bruce but the woman looked relieved.

"She was down here wasn’t she," Bruce said gravely.

"Yes, she was," the woman said.

"Why would you say that! Do you want to be chained forever?!" the man growled.

"Hush!" Bruce said as he grabbed a long rod that was electrified and he hit the man with it and I cringed as the man screamed.

"Where is she?" Bruce asked.

"She left us a couple minutes ago," the woman said.

"What did she want?"

"To free us, she thought you were hurting us," the woman explained.

"I'm not hurting you, just keeping you from harming others. And I only hurt him to keep him in his place. Did she know what he was?" Bruce asked.

"No, but she knew to use the monkshood on him somehow…" the woman replied.

"Strange, other forces are helping her then…" Bruce said.

"Is she still down here?" Bruce asked the man who started to sniff around.

"Yes, she is still down here," the man said hanging his head in shame.

                Bruce thanked them and shut them in and started walking around his laboratory looking in every nick and cranny. He was getting closer to where I was and I had no plan on how to escape. That's when I remembered I had my taser on me! Reaching into my pocket I grabbed it ready to use it when he found me.

"I know you're in here, and I'm going to find you, so why don't you come out on your own and we can talk," Bruce announced to the room.
