“Vlad, Jack has gone missing,” a hunter spoke.

“Really? It seems that he isn’t the only person missing in these hallowed woods. Apparently Violet was captured by the other side of vampires, but she escaped. So, Jack and a general vampire from the opposing side are all missing. What does that say?” I asked.

“I am sorry but I’m not sure Vlad,” the hunter said, his voice faltering.

“It says that either the vampires over took Jack and Violet or someone’s come to Violet’s rescue and Jack and the vampire are prisoners,” I explained, “Now leave me to think,” I demanded.

Walking around the abandoned cabin I knew someone had been in here. It could have been Jack or Violet due to a crossbow that was missing. This years training had gone unbelievably well. We were strong and ready to fight to the death. I trusted that the hunters would not die here, that they would fight to survive and kill those monsters. Sitting down, I sighed to myself. We had today to prepare before we attacked when the other vampires attacked. I had to prepare to kill my niece. My Violet. She should have stayed on my side. She should know that Vampires are a threat, are a menace, are vermin just waiting to kill us all.

Andrew was not the real threat, it was Nick. Nick wanted to follow Dracula’s goal to take over the world, have vampires be the dominant species. This cannot happen. I know Andrew has no idea what he’s doing; he isn’t fit to rule, which is why it is so good. A blind leader is a doomed leader. Shaking off my thoughts I stood up and went through the trap door into the dark dank tunnel. Switching the light on the room shined with weapons and I smiled to myself.  Continuing on past the weapons, I pushed a shield half the size of me to the side to reveal an opening. Hunching down, I crawled through the opening and then pushed the shield back in place and continued on. We had three training rooms and ten rooms to sleep in. It wasn’t anything like our establishment back in the states, but this had to do.

“Alright, everyone up!” I shouted as my yell echoed through the tunnels. I could hear everyone walking towards me.

“You have all trained well, and tomorrow is judgment day. Tomorrow you find out if you really are a hunter. Today? Today you will be going over the strategies we’ve discussed, taking inventory of the weapons, distributing them, and making sure you are mentally prepared to kill,” I announced.

I looked around the cavern at my soldiers…my warriors. They were silent but poised.

“Now, separate into the groups that you were assigned. And the most important thing to know is that Violet is mine. No one is to hurt her, you may simply guide her to me,” I said making sure they all knew this, “Now get to work!” I shouted before leaving them in the dark tunnels that were filled with scars, blood and pain.

Stopping myself in my tracks, I realized I should be overseeing their preparations. Walking back I entered each training room and oversaw what they did for twenty minutes then moved to the next. Everything had to go according to plan. We could not fail. Our main targets were the vampires from Nick’s side. If we could conquer Nick’s vampires then taking on Andrew’s would be cake.

Throughout the day my hunters worked, and at the end of the day weapons were in place the strategies were cemented into their brains and they were ready. Ready to kill.
