"He is going to make it, he is lucky we got there so fast. He lost a lot of blood and hit his head pretty hard, so he is not doing the best, but he will make it," the nurse said.

We all sighed with relief and I processed that he was going to make it, and Trace repeated it to me so he knew I received the message.

"You may visit him now if you wish, but he is sleeping, but if seeing him makes you feel better you can come with me," the nurse said and we all stood up at the same time.

As we walked down the white halls my mind reeled with memories of being in hospitals and having to visit loved ones in them. The nurse opened the door and we walked in slowly. Charles walked up to Bruce and tears were in his eyes. Jackson stood back and started to bite his nails. I stood there at the end of his bed just staring at Bruce who had a cut on his head and was bruised. I didn’t see the cut that made him lose a lot of blood but I guess it was on his stomach or something.

Bruce was hooked up to all sorts of machines and looking at Bruce in the hospital bed made me sick. It had to be Diane…she had to have woken up and done something…maybe she changed…Bruce is lucky to be alive. The nurse came in after ten minutes and said that we had to leave his room but we were welcome to stay at the hospital if we desired. Jackson said that he should go home to let Bruce's sister know, and Charles wanted to stay but he was already old and the nurse advised against it. Trace said he couldn't stay even if he wanted because his father was pushing for them to spend time together. I wanted to stay but I didn’t know if it was appropriate.  But I knew someone should stay…and Charles isn't that old, and if so couldn’t they give Charles a bed to stay in?

"Violet, are you going to stay?" Charles asked.

"I don't know…is it appropriate?" I asked unsure.

"I think Bruce would want you to stay here, you mean a lot to him. He has always had issues with getting along with people and having people who like him, and you…well you two just seemed to have clicked. And the nurse does not want me to stay, and I wish to, but she is right that I am old, and I would feel better knowing someone was here in case anything happens…" Charles said.

"Then I will stay," I said with a soft smile.

"Thank you," Charles said as he hugged me, and when he pulled away he whipped some tears away and gave me a smile back.

At that moment my phone rang and it was Jason who was about to scold me until I told him what happened and Jason said he would let the school know I didn’t just ditch. It was getting late so I went to the cafeteria to grab dinner and I observed people from all ages. Children that were five years old to parents and grandparents and all wore the same mask of sadness and worry. Everyone seemed to have more than one family member. The room was silent except for the TV that had children shows on to distract the kids from the tragedies. After dinner I walked back to Bruce's room and found a chair that was near his room and sat down and dozed off.

"Violet…Violet? Wake up," Someone said.

"What, is something happening?" I asked until I realized it was Luke who was talking to me.

"Are you stalking me?" I questioned.

"I heard you ran out in the middle of class, so after school I went over to your house and Jason told me what happened…so after dinner I drove over here to see if you were alright," Luke explained as he sat next to me.

"I am…not alright, I don't care to be strong right now so I'll admit it I am not doing well," I confessed.

"That's alright, and that's natural to not be alright all the time. How is Bruce doing?"

"They said it was pretty serious but they got him here in time so that's why he's alive," I explained.

"And you're staying here all night?" Luke asked.

"Yeah, Charles said Bruce would have wanted me to, and Charles wanted me to because he couldn’t stay," I replied.

"Well, I hope Bruce gets better soon," Luke said getting up.

"Where are you going?" I asked not wanting him to leave.

"Uh…I wasn’t sure if you wanted me here so I thought…"

"Stay, please, just for a little while," I asked.

"Sure," Luke said sitting back down.

"Doctors have been going in his room every hour…it scares me," I whispered.

"If the doctors say Bruce will be fine then he will, have faith," Luke said with an understanding smile.

"Yeah, I guess. It's just that when I saw him earlier…seeing him there with that cut on his head all bruised up scared me…" I admitted.

"It is scary to see someone you love hurt, I get that, but the doctors say he will be fine," Luke assured.

"Thanks, sometimes I forget to look at the positives…" I trailed off.

"So are you going to be okay if I leave?" Luke asked.

"I'll be fine, thanks for checking on me," I said with a smile.

"Alright, I'll see you around Vi," Luke said before leaving.

After speaking with Luke I fell asleep again until I heard a beeping that woke me, and I saw a doctor race into Bruce's room and my eyes went wide with fear. Getting up shakily I walked over and Bruce was awake but he was freaking out, he was scared and talking about a wolf, and then our eyes locked and he whispered my name and calmed for a moment. I just stood there in the door way watching the doctor try to get him to calm down. The nurse eventually took me from the door and made me sit in the chair.

"He will be fine, he is just traumatized from the accident," the nurse assured as she looked in my eyes.

"He said my name," I said shaking my head in shock.

"That's a good thing. The doctor wasn't sure if he had amnesia from his head injury…this is the first time he has woken up since he first arrived. Bruce will be alright with time," the nurse said gently as she left me in the chair.

"Violet, Bruce wants to see you, he thinks that he imagined you were here, and I assured him you were here, but he refuses to go back to sleep until he knows that you…well, are really here," the doctor said.
