The King, The Enemy, and the Wars[Sequel to The Slayer]

Chapter 5

So until the meeting Daniel tried to keep me calm, tried to write me a speech, and did everything he could to make sure I was controlled, and did not break down. I had a whole community of people looking up to me; I could not show any weakness. Daniel told me that everyone was excited for the "surprise" raid from the hunters and looked forward to killing. That eased my nerves a bit, but how would they react when I announced we were at war?  Maybe most of them knew already.  Whichever way you changed the situation, there was going to be fighting.

                I can't believe I am about to meet the most important vampires in the community and I had to announce that there was going to be a war. The castle was hectic during the next couple days. Everyone was running around making sure that the underground lair was perfect. Daniel woke me up a couple hours before the meeting and made me practice my speech in front of him and the entire castle. I got through it and they did a mock response, and I had to settle it down. Once Daniel thought I had done a good job he said he had to go greet guests, and Blade had to be the 'bouncer' who checked off names.

                I sat down on my throne and once people started to enter they would come up to me and introduce themselves. It took about an hour for everyone to arrive. I started to walk around and made small talk.  Daniel handed me a note and it read "Sire, do you see that Vampire with orange hair wearing sunglasses over there? He is known as Hypno-flame. It would be good if he liked you and chose to be on our side of the war." I looked up and tucked the note in my pocket and walked over to Hypno- flame.

"Hello Sire." Hypno-flame said bowing.

"Hello Hypno-flame." I replied nodding back to him.

"You know my name? I am honored." He said.

"You look young." I noted.

"Yes, well I am a very well known vampire even though I am on the younger side. I am only fifty years, but I hear that you are still in your first year. You have a lot to learn and experience. How has your change been?"

"It's been pretty smooth, thank you. Now I do have one question, why are you called Hypno-flame?" I asked eyeing him.

"I am called that because I have the power of hypnosis on girls. It makes getting a meal quite easy. And the flame just came along because of my hair color." He explained.

                I felt a tap on my shoulder. Daniel nodded to me, and I excused myself from Hypno-flame to go say my speech.

"Welcome all to this meeting. It has been a joy to meet all of you and talk with you. As you know Dacre was killed by a hunter only a few months ago and decreed me as his successor. It has been a rough change to go from a small town vampire to a ruler in the course of three weeks. As you know I had made a statement earlier in my reign, but now that has been changed. Vampires may drink from any human above the age of sixteen and change whatever human asks for it as long as they understand what they are getting themselves into. As all of you know, Nick was originally Dacre's successor. Nick and I had a meeting because it came to my attention that the Nobles were angry with my earlier statement. Now that the law is less regulating, Nick and his Nobles were still unsatisfied and have called war upon me and any vampire who drinks from an animal. Now, I have done everything I can to avoid war, but Nick would not agree. So once this meeting is over Nick and his followers are officially at war with me and any animal drinker. Not all vampires have to choose sides, you may remain neutral and avoid the war entirely, but for those who choose sides choose wisely. And now, if I hear correctly, I think the hunters have arrived. Thank you, may you all go and have a victorious fight against them." I said getting down from the podium.

                All the vampires charged out of the underground lair and onto castle grounds attacking the shocked hunters. I arrived on the scene and saw Violet had switched sides. I rushed up to her seeing a danger coming behind her. I pushed the guy to the ground, and embraced Violet. We then stood back to back protecting each other from danger.  The guy got back up wearing a scowl.
