"Why are you sitting here?" Josh scoffed.

"It's a free country, I can sit where I want," I retorted.

"No need to get defensive, I just assumed you didn’t like me at all, guess I was wrong," Josh said in a tone.

"Guess you were," I said eyeing him.

"So do you hate me for uh teasing your friend?" Josh asked.

"Uh yeah, but you haven't caused much trouble lately so I thought maybe something's changed…" I trailed off.

"Okay, yeah something has changed… I don't want to be mean to Trace anymore…especially if it hurts other people you know?" Josh said trying to keep the conversation going.

"Yeah…" I said giving him a look as more students came in.

Throughout that class I caught Josh staring at me like he was trying to figure me out… which I guessed wasn’t bad; it meant he was curious…When the bell rang I grabbed my things and walked out the door and I could tell Josh struggled to catch up to me.

"Violet, wait up," Josh called from behind me.

"What's up Josh?" I asked trying to seem interested.

"Uh, well, I um, you see, I was wondering if maybe we could hangout?" Josh asked.

I pretended like I was thinking about my schedule to see if i was free, and uncorked the vial of wolfsbane and Josh didn’t seem to react.

"Um, I am kind of busy…" I started.

"Oh, okay, well I guess another time then," Josh said awkwardly and I gave a weak smile and walked away.

Spotting Trace in the café I told him that Josh couldn't be the one.

"Fine…so who the hell is it?" Trace asked frustrated.

"I don't know…but let's stop talking since someone is coming in," I said nodding to the door where Luke was about to enter.

"Hey guys, what are you talking about?" Luke asked in an annoyed tone.

"Nothing," Trace said casually.

"Don't lie; I know when you're lying. Vi, you need to tell me what happened last night, what that thing was," Luke demanded.

"No, I don't, and I don't know what it was!" I hissed.

"You do! Somehow you knew not to run, and somehow it didn’t attack us, now why was that? Because you somehow knew what it was and how to get away from it, so tell me," Luke pushed.

"It's better if you don't know," I said as I grabbed my books for class and stomped out in a fury with Trace following behind me.

"Seems like you two are all good," Trace said sarcastically as we sat down for class.

"Oh yeah, we are soo good," I said playing along.

"Hey so maybe we can hand in downtown after school?" Trace asked.

"Sure, but what's in downtown?" I asked curiously.

"A book store," Trace said with a wide smile and then the teacher began talking.

Once last period was over Trace and I packed our bags and headed to downtown. I was on full alert and noticing everyone that walked past us, trying to see if they were normal. Following Trace through the front door of the book store I suddenly realized why we were here.
