Chapter Five
Justin's P.O.V.
"7...8....9...10! Justin Romaine is the champion!" the referee shouted as the crowd erupted in cheers. I was addicted to this feeling. Breathing heavily, in a bit of pain, muscles sore, and the adrenaline of the fight. The referee lifted my arm in the air as the crowd once again screamed.
Coach led me out of the ring into the locker rooms that were surrounded by fans. The one part I hated about professional fighting, the over eager fans. I couldn't complain though, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have gotten this far.
Christina, my manger and a good friend jumped into my arms like she did after every fight. It wasn't all bad, Christina was very attractive but dating her, not an option. "Justin, you were on fire tonight!"
"Thanks" I laughed setting her back down on her feet. She would always throw herself at me ever since we met. All night I couldn't stop thinking about Lexie and last night. I didn't like the way Garrett kept looking at her, there was more then friends in his mind.
Every ounce of my frustration was taken out on that fight. I needed to protect her from anything that could hurt her, I needed to get her out of there. I really don't know why I felt so strongly about this but I was getting attached a little too quick. Today I hadn't got the chance to talk to her and it was killing me.
Kara's words kept replaying in my mind, "she's been hurt before, she's been burned by people she trusted, shes fragile" I couldn't shake them, Lexie definitely changed over these past years but from what I saw I didn't blame her. She explained to me what happened and I couldn't believe it! She was just trying to defend herself!
Bradley shoved her against a wall and chucked a large piece of fruit at her head! What was she supposed to do? Just stand there and hope for the best that he didn't go any further and attack her? I had to protect her, I had to! It-
"Justin!" I was snapped out of my thoughts by a high pitched voice. "I've been trying to get your attention for five minutes now!" Christina screamed shaking my arm. Why were girls so needy all the time?
"Sorry" I shrugged, "what do you need?"
"Anything wrong?" she asked as we walked to her car. A lot of the time she would drive me in case I got a concussion at a fight. Luckily tonight it was only a busted lip and a few bruises.
"Just a lot on my mind" I answered giving her a weak smile.
"Well you can talk to me" she practically purred as she started up the car. Again, she always threw herself at me. I never understood why girls did that, to me it was a lack of respect for themselves.
I sighed, maybe she would offer some good advice. "I really like this girl but I'm not sure how to go about it"
"Wow someone's got the fighter in love" she chuckled trying to ease the tension in the air. I laughed along with her, "Tell me about her"
Just the thought of Lexie brought a smile to my face, wow I had it bad. "Well we talk all the time, she's beautiful, has the most outgoing and spunky personality but she has some uh issues and won't open up to me about them when I truly want to help her"
"Hmm sounds like a challenge"
"Yeah I know, I'm not sure if she feels the same way about me though"
Christina nodded and pulled into my driveway. I got confused as to why she shut the engine off but grabbed my bag from the back seat. She placed a hand on my arm making me glance back at her. "I know who you are talking about Justin"
