Chapter Forty One
Justin's P.O.V.
Today was honestly a day I was dreading, firing Christina. I knew this was my career and what I said goes but it was not going to be easy. She was scheduled to be here around noon so only a couple of hours before I had to deal with this.
Thankfully Lexie had been happy all morning so one less thing to worry about. I was so excited to have her make that decision. Garrett was definitely right, when she committed to something she stayed with it. Now she was happy as could be playing with Taz on my bed.
She didn't know that I had snapped a couple of pictures but I loved capturing her in the moment. Now that I thought about it the reason she was so moody with me was the fact she was trying to make a decision on what to do. It seemed like after she made up her mind she was perfectly happy.
I watched as she slid her hand under the blanket slightly moving it to catch Taz's attention then she would wiggle her hand some more until he attacked. She would giggle then attack him with her other hand and they did this over and over again.
Eventually Taz either got bored or tired because he just laid there soaking up the love he was getting from Lexie. She would sweet talk him and then bump her nose with his. After seeing her do that a couple of times made me freeze in my place. She was bumping her nose against his which is exactly what she would do with me.
Lexie was showing me the same affection as her cat and I realized that was something huge. If she was putting me up there with him, I knew he was just a cat but still that animal was so precious to her. It made me smile seeing she loved me as much as she loved Taz.
I heard her phone go off on the desk as I spun around in my chair seeing her mom text her. "Love, I think someone text you"
"Oh" she straightened up on my bed turning her focus on me. "Who is it?"
"Um..." spinning back around to the desk I acted like I was reading the name. "Your mom"
Lexie sighed, that little smile fading off her lips. "What does she want?"
Picking up the phone I read the text, "We are out of town for about a week, you need to take care of the company"
"Figures she only tells me when she wants something. Just tell her okay" I nodded typing out the reply noticing how many times Lexie told her she loved them and got no response back. "Well I guess I better head home"
She stood up smoothing out her clothes with her palms. "Love I'll drive you there"
"Okay" she sighed, well I thought I was going to have to argue with her on that one. "Which by the way how did you get Taz here?"
I gave her an innocent smile as she crossed her arms raising a suspicious eyebrow. Laughing I pulled out his cat carrier from underneath the bed. Now she might actually kill me but instead she took it from my hands to go grab Taz.
Once she forced him in there she said goodbye to my family and slid in the truck. I rounded the bumper climbing into my seat as she stared out the window. Christina was going to be here in a few minutes and I did not want those two in the same room.
Knowing Lexie she would probably say something and then Christina would get defensive, that was something I'd rather avoid at the moment. Starting up the engine I began the three minute drive to her house. Pulling into the driveway I noticed the trucks and motorcycles were gone.
Lexie pulled out the keys to her house unbuckling her seatbelt as I did the same. She grabbed a hold of Taz as he continued crying like she was leaving him. I chuckled seeing this cat loved her as much as she loved it. Unlocking the door she motioned for me to come inside with her.
