Chapter Fifty Three
Lexie's P.O.V.
After a long drive with me spilling everything to Kara she eventually dropped me off at home. I walked into the house hearing nothing but silence which was very odd since I was expecting to hear the games going. Then dads laugh came from his office so I figured he was with a client.
Even at nine at night dad was still working, I didn't blame him though. He was trying to get the company on its feet so they could hire more people and grow a bit. Even though they still needed my help they gave me some space knowing I was focused on Marilyn.
Sighing I leaned up against the front door making sure to erase any evidence of me crying. They couldn't know Justin was here, unless Neil told them in that case I'd be screwed. From the looks of it, they didn't know so hopefully Neil was respectful of that as well.
We had to do something and fast before we got caught, before he got caught. Plans had changed when he flew back out here to be with me. The wonderful man I called my boyfriend took a plane thousands of miles away so he could support me through this.
Every time I thought of him tears came to my eyes, he was just too good to be true. All of this started when he decided to find me on the most popular social network on the web. Then when he came out to surprise me.
"Lexie?" I looked up to see Neil's face staring directly at me. He better not have told them, I was going to kill him. "I haven't said anything" he immediately spoke up seeing that look on my face.
Breathing out a sigh of relief I felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders. "Thank you, but please promise me you still won't"
He sighed scanning my face with his almost black eyes. "I don't know if I can do that Lexie"
"Please Neil, you can't tell them"
"Your father is my real estate agent and I know a very important piece of information about his daughter, I'm not sure I can keep that from him"
I started crying once again knowing everything we worked through would be gone if Neil opened his mouth. "Neil please you can't, after all this we-please"
"Oh Lexie don't cry" he softly said pulling me into him, he was nothing like Justin. He didn't feel the same, didn't smell the same. "Alright, I'll be quiet if you do something for me" he whispered as my gaze met his. "Let me rent that house from you instead of buying it"
"Why?"
Neil sighed continuing to keep his arms around me which I wasn't too happy with but if it prevented him from saying anything it had to be okay. "As soon as I buy that house I'll never see you again, if I rent it I have an excuse to see you. We are friends and I want to continue that relationship"
I nodded, "Okay that's fine with me" at least he didn't know what we were planning on doing. Little did he figure out he'd never see me again period.
The way he kept staring right into my eyes really creeped me out, it was almost like he was debating whether to take the chance and kiss me or not. "Wow, you really love him don't you?"
"I do" I whispered tearing my gaze away from his to the floor. "He deserves so much better than me, a girl with such brokenness. Then again he's dealing with so much that I never knew about. I want so badly to take it away from him, let all the pain fade away but I can't. I can't do anything to help him besides sticking by him. I'm completely helpless and all I can do is be there-"
Burying my face in Neil he just stood there holding me, I had to get this out. It was tearing me apart my Justin was hurting so much. I would do anything to make the pain go away. Then I realized that's exactly what Justin was trying to do.
