Chapter Fifty
Lexie's P.O.V.
Today was the play Garrett had written, Unspoken. The evil queen against the good king that couldn't keep his heart out of anything. I woke up deciding today was going to be full of practice. In the play I'd be acting, singing, and dancing. To say I was nervous was an understatement. Never in the plays had I done all that, this was going to be the first time I sang in a play.
Garrett had made this play a musical, thankfully both of us could sing so hopefully it would go smoothly. This plot was honestly the best thing Garrett had ever written, yes it was a little clique. The evil queen falling in love with the good king but the way he had portrayed them was beyond amazing.
He had written the queen to be harsh and cruel to others but on the inside she was just like every other girl. She had been through some hard times and that's what made her heart turn to stone. Now the king, he was the complete opposite. He was oblivious to everything that his kingdom saw him as wise and compassionate.
I was so excited to hear the announcement go off that we were ready to go on stage and act the crap out of that play. With the amount of work he had put into it, all of us better be on our toes making sure everything is perfect. Garrett deserved to win this competition.
Zipping up my point shoes I headed down the stairs to be met with Bradley's smiling face. It made my insides turn to guilt knowing I was keeping a huge secret from him but I couldn't say anything, he would freak and refuse to let me go. I smiled climbing into the car as he rounded the bumper.
The plan was for him to take me to the theater before anyone else so I could rehearse with no distractions then he would go over to Kara's to do whatever they do. Bradley started the engine backing out of the driveway as he drove to the theater. "Excited?" He asked with a small smile.
"Very" I chuckled for the first time in a few days, it had been nothing but sadness and worry. Sadly enough Marilyn was still in the hospital so she wasn't able to watch it. Kara had convinced Bradley to record it so she could see it when she got better.
"I've been meaning to ask you something" he spoke up keeping his eyes on the road, "What happened with you and Justin?"
"What do you mean?"
"He went back home and I haven't heard you talk about him since, did you two break up?"
I sighed looking out towards the window, what was I supposed to tell him? Oh by the way I'm running away to Oklahoma with him and you'll probably never see me again? "I don't know, I mean I really like him but long distance is too complicated"
"You said you loved him"
"I do but maybe it wasn't meant to be, I live here and he lives all the way out there. I just can't do it"
"I'm sure you too could work something-"
"Bradley don't, please" he nodded zipping up his mouth while I turned on the radio. I needed something to distract me from just blurting out the truth to him. Bradley pulled into the driveway of the theater as I opened my door. "Well I'll see you later"
He grabbed my hand causing me to stop and look at his face, "If you ever need anything I'm here okay?"
"Okay" I smiled watching his expression light up, "I love you"
"I love you too" he gently pressed his lips against the back of my hand slowly letting me go, Kara did absolute wonders with him. "You'll be great tonight"
With that I shut the door heading into the front entrance of the theater, no one was here yet so I rounded the corner into the sound booth. First hour, ballet practice. Plugging my phone into the stereo system I let my songs shuffle tying up the ribbons of my point shoes. I sighed walking up to the stage feeling the nerves get to me already.
