Where We Want To Be. A LINSTEAD Story

Chapter 2

Erin's POV

"So what we got sarge?" Kevin asks once we are all back at our desks.

"We have to wait for Olinsky." Hank says So he won't have to explain more than once.

"Im right here sarge." Al says rolling his chair away from his desk so we could see him.

"Alright then. 25 year old Katlin Jones murdered last night in her apartment. Looks like a kidnapping and torture, finished with her bleeding out on the floor. I want Halstead and Lindsay to go talk to the girls boyfriend see if he knows anything. Al, Ruzek,Dawson and Attwater I want you to contact your CI's see if they might know anything." Hank says giving us our jobs.

"Alright sarge." Everyone responds getting to what they were asked to do.

So Jay and I head to the car ready to go talk to the boyfriend.

"I call driving today." Jay says running to the car

"Uh... no way." I say grabbing the keys from my pocket.

"Why not you always get to drive. It's no fair." He says trying to persuade me 

"Yeah I'm driving." I say getting in with a smirk.

*boyfriends apartment*

*knock knock*

"Hello?" A man says opening the door

"Hello I'm detective Halstead and this is detective Lindsay are you the boyfriend of Katlin Jones?" Jay asks.

"Yes I'm William. Oh no! What happened??" He says clearly worried since the cops showed up at his door.

"We found Katlin dead last night in her apartment. When was the last time you saw her??" I ask telling the situation.

"Um... 5 days ago. She hasn't been returning my texts or calls but that is normal I just figured she was working. She is in training to be a police officer." He says holding back tears.

"Thank you for this information we will be back in touch." Jay says as we turn around and head back to the car.

*back at the station*

"So what did you get?" Hank asks as we walk up the stairs.

"Katlin was last heard from 5 days ago. Boyfriend figured she was just working. She was training to be a cop." I brief him.

"Alright guys this hits close to home with a police officer having to go through what she did. We will do whatever it takes to find this guy." Hank says.

"One of my CI's has informed me that there has been a couple people in a few of the gangs threatening to harm police. But that's all we got sarge." Antonio says.

"Ok so what we know is that this guy targeted a Chicago police officer. But what if she just fit his target description. I say we do a search for all unsolved cases involving women in their mid 20's around 5'2 with brown hair being kidnapped or tortured. That might give us something." Jay says

I give Jay a look. Wow he is so smart to come up with that scenario. But I can't wait till tonight when we can finally talk alone.

*2 hours later*

"So there are 2 unsolved cases with women fitting our description both with different suspects. One a gang associated male mid 30's named Tyrone Alec suspected for torturing a 23 year old woman but never charged because there was no definite evidence against him. Same goes for our second suspect John Smith just like Tyrone suspected never charged for the torture of 2 women. Smith is also very active online with threats twords the cpd. One of these two could be our guys." Mouse says

"Any whereabouts on either of them??" Hank asks.

"Yes Tyrone has an apartment on the west side and Smith in canaryville." Mouse reads off his computer.

"Wow canaryville?" Adam says.

"Yeah" Mouse confirms.

"Wow not to much crime goes on there." Adam says surprised.

"Ok I want Halstead and Lindsay to check out Smith's apartment and Dawson and Olinsky to check out Tyrone's. Attwater and Ruzek stay here with mouse see if you can dig up anything else." Hank says dismissing us.

"Can I drive this time??" Jay says as we head down to the car.

"No you ask every time and it's always the same answer."

"Fine." He agrees dropping it 

*Smith's apartment*

*knock knock*

No answer.

"Chicago PD open up" Jay yelled knocking on the door again.

"Maybe he's not home." I said.

"Check the windows see if you can see anything suspicious."Jay says looking in one of the windows.

"Alright" I say

So I head around the side to look in the windows at first I don't see anything but then I see a leg. Someone is out on the floor.

"Jay I got a body." I say running back to the door.

"Alright breach." He says kicking in the door.

We enter the apartment and scan through checking every room leaving the kitchen for last.

"There she is." I say spotting her.

She was about a 25 year old woman laying unconscious on the floor. There was deffinate signs of a struggle and she was definitely beaten.

"I think we may have found our guy but where is he??" Jay said looking through the rest of the rooms.

"Well he deffinetly isn't here." I say

"She still has a pulse very weak but it's there." He said as Erin knelt down to check.

So I radio Voight.

"Hank I think he is our guy. He's nowhere to be found but we have an unconscious girl bringing her to med now." I say into the radio.

So we drove her to med as fast as we could with the sirens blaring. The whole time thinking we have to hurry or she won't make it.

"Come on Erin her pulse is getting weaker." Jay says I speed to the hospital.

"We are one minute out already called saying we were in our way."

*At med*

"What do we got" Will says rushing to us.

"Womam mid 20's found unconscious beaten that's all we know." Jay says lifting her out of the car.

"Ok get her to trauma 2" Will says.

About half an hour goes by before we hear anything.

"Ok so she suffered a major blow to the head and has a broken arm and some broken ribs. Whoever did this probably thought she was dead. It was good you got there when you did. She was very lucky. She is awake right now you can go and see her if you want." Will says as he walks into the waiting room.

"Thanks bro." Jay says as we stand up.

So we are walking into her room when we get a text from Hank.

So interview her see what you can get. Then meet back at the district I think we have a lead.
