Chapter 10

One month later

Erin's pov.

So I have been back at work now for almost a month. Let's just say I am doing a lot better. I am sleeping through the night, no more nightmares and I am not afraid to be alone at my house anymore although Jay is here most of the time. I think I love him. I mean I knew that I was always in love with him but now I think it is love. I love Jay Halstead and I think I am ready to tell him.

Christmas is only a few days away. I think I will give him the best Christmas gift and tell him how I feel. I just hope that he feels the same and that nothing will change between us.

Jays pov

So Erin is doing a lot better now. I am just so glad that she let me in To help her get through it. I have known since I first saw her that j had strong feelings for her. But I think that now I love her. I will tell her how I feel on Christmas which is in a few days. I just hope that she feels the same way and that nothing between us will change.

Erin's pov.

Today is the last day at work before Christmas which is on Sunday. I just have to hope that we don't get a case today or it might mess up with our Christmas.

It's 6:30 and shift starts at 8. That gives me enough time to get ready. I text Jay to see if he needs a ride to work.

E-hey do you want me to pick you up and drive you to work?

I was surprised at how fast he responded.

J- sure sounds good.

E- OK be there at 7:45. I'll buy coffees.

J- OK see you then.

So I jump in the shower and start getting good ready for work. By the time I am dressed and have my hair up and little bit of makeup on its 7:30. So I start the car to warm it up before I go.

10 minutes later I leave since it only takes 5 minutes to get to jays. I pulled up right at 7:45 and Jay is just walking out the door.

He hops in the car and rubs his hands together saying. "Man is it ever cold out there."

"Yeah but it's nice and warm in the car." I say turning the heat up all the way for him.

He leans over and gives me a quick kiss.

I start to drive away and we start to chat.

"So how was your night last night?" Jay asks

"It was alright. I slept through the night."

"That's great." He says enthusiastically

"Yeah but it would have been a lot better of you were there." I say just as we pull I to the drive through at Starbucks. "What do you want?"

"Just a coffee." He replies.

"OK."

Then the person comes through the speaker asking what we would like.

"A large double double coffee and a soy bean latte." I say knowing jays coffee order by heart.

"OK pull up to the window it will be ready for you there." The guy says.

So I pull up to the window and grab and pay for the coffees. I hand Jay his and put mine in the cup holder beside me.

We pull up to work 5 minutes early and we walk up to the bullpen. But today we couldn't avoid Platts comments.

"Hey lover boy how's it going this morning." Platt says.

"What do you want Platt?" Jay says

"Oh dont play stupid on me. Anyone could see what you two are doing." She says giving him a little wink.
