Chapter 55

Guys it's been way too long. I am sorry. I haven't been having the best time lately and it doesn't help that my computer crashed like 6 months ago and i only just got a new one so i was forced to write on my phone which is not easy. And as promised this is the chapter where you will find out if the baby will be a boy or a girl so stay tuned. And thank you guys for putting up with my constant breaks between chapters.

4 weeks later      

Erin's POV

"Jay get up. Jay Halstead get out of bed" I yell throwing a pillow at his head

"Huh yeah i'm up. What's wrong." he says shooting up out of bed

"Jay look" I say lifting my shirt to show him my stomach

"What am i looking at" He says still half asleep

"Jay my belly is getting bigger." I say frustrated he didn't notice

"Er you look skinny as ever." Jay says

"What you can't see it?" I say getting mad at how unobservant he is.

"Maybe a little. But I've learnt to only tell you that you look skinny as ever so that's what i'm going with." Jay says walking out of the room

"Dammit Jay tell me i'm fat." I yell after him.

I spend another 10 minutes looking at myself in the mirror admiring the baby bump I am finally getting.

"Alright Er, eat up we have another big day ahead of us. We have to go to work first thing and then we have another appointment and since Nat couldn't tell if our baby is a boy or a girl last week we get to find out today." Jay says putting a plate of eggs and bacon on the table for me

"Yeah I know. I can't believe I am finally 18 weeks along. And I am so exited to find out what were getting." I say digging in to my breakfast because I know Jay wont let me leave the house until it's all gone

"Alright all done now go get ready I wanna hurry up and get to work." I tell jay as i finish the last bite.

"Alright I'm going" Jay says

10 minutes later Jay comes out dressed and ready to go.

"Alright babe let's go" Jay says grabbing my hand and leading me out to the car.

Jay jumped in the driver's seat because he insists on driving until the baby comes and I don't feel like fighting him on it. It's actually kind of cute how he's being protective over everything. 

When we pull in to the district we both get out and hurry upstairs.

As soon as we get upstairs I am quickly greeted by Kim running over to me.

"Today's the big day. We finally get to find out whether it's going to be a baby boy or girl." Kim says.

She has been so excited since we told everyone we were having a baby. Jay and I had talked about it and we decided that we wanted Kim to be our baby's Godmother and she was thrilled to say she would love to be.

"Alright guys we don't have any time to waste this morning, we have a case." Hank says walking up the stairs with someone I haven't seen in a while

"Olivia Benson. Long time no see. What are you doing here?" I say walking over to give her a hug

"Well I got called in for a case." she says as she pulls away from the hug. "And I also heard congratulations are in order" 

"Uh, yeah I guess they are." I say smiling

"Alright guys we have Sargent Benson with us again from New York." Hank interrupts from the board. "So we do have a case that I called Benson in to come help us with. There was a 17 year old girl, Maggie Olsen who went missing from New York 2 months ago. Last night there was someone who spotted her with an unknown male and did not appear to be willing to go with him. We got a licence plate on the car and an address to check out." Hank says before giving us our assignments and heading out.

4 hours later everyone had regrouped back at the district with the information everyone had found.

Jay and I were told to stay back at the district and monitor Maggie's phone. And nothing had happened in the past 4 hours so we had come up with nothing.

"So we found a little bit....." Was all i heard Adam say before I had zoned out completely.

All I could think about was that in about an hour Jay and I would know if we were having a baby boy or girl. I'm pretty sure that's why Hank made us stay at the district because he knew our heads weren't really in it today.

"Er, earth to Erin" I heard jay saying right in front of me

"Huh Yeah." I said 

"I said it's time for us to go. You zoned out for a while there."

"Yeah I guess I did. I didn't even hear anything in relation to the case." I said

"Well let's go then. Our appointment starts in 15 minutes." Jay says as we get up and make our way to the hospital

Once again I zoned out for the whole car ride and didn't even notice we were at the hospital until I heard Jay's door slam as he got out and walked around to help me out of the car.

"Sorry I guess I really am out of it today." I said as i get out of the car

"Yeah so am I. I'm just ready to see what this little fella is gonna be." Jay says leading me to the hospital with a spring in his step

He really is so excited to be a dad.

Getting checked into the hospital and going to the room all passes in a blur. Before I know it Nat is coming into the room to start the exam.

"Hey guys. How has it been going." Nat asks

"Good. I think things are progressing at the right pace now." I say

" And by the looks of it I would say you are right. You look about the right size for this stage of the pregnancy. We just have to take a look at the baby to make sure that is the case." Nat says

So i lift my shirt and she puts on the cold gel to start the exam. It doesn't take long for her to find the baby and the sound of our baby's heartbeat to fill the room. 

"Alright everything does seem to be progressing well. The baby is the right size and growing and developing perfectly." She says snapping a picture and printing it out for us. " And I assume you guys want to know the gender of your baby?" Nat asks

"Yes" Jay says as I nod my head in response

"Alright." Nat says taking another look to make sure. "Congratulations guys you are having a baby boy"

"Really. I can't believe it. Er were gonna have a little boy." Jay says jumping up in joy.

"Yeah that's amazing" I say trying to keep myself from laughing at how excited Jay is about it.

Jay comes over giving me a kiss with the biggest smile on his face. "A boy Er. Were having a boy. A little mini me"

I can't believe it a little boy.

So I've decided that it's time I wrap up the story. I really don't want to, however, this story has been going on for a long time now and in my opinion it seems to be dragging on and I don't have the inspiration to write it anymore. So i do have a plan on how i'm going to finish the story. I will ONLY be writing one more chapter where the story finishes and it will basically just be the epilogue. I had a different way that i wanted to end this story however I just can't write it anymore. Sorry guys I know a lot of you don't want this to end but it's time and trust me I will continue to write. I have a lot of other ideas for different stories that i'm sure you guys will like.
