Chapter 40

Three weeks later.

Erin's pov

Today is a very special day. Will Jay remember? Probably not. This day only comes around once a year and this year is our first one.

It's our one year anniversary. I haven't been hinting to it so I doubt Jay even knows. I just really want to see if he remembered.

Jay starts to stir beside me since it's when we have to wake up to go to work. Of course we have to work on our one year anniversary.

"Erin it's time to get up." Jay moans rolling over to face me.

"Oh your already up. Why didn't you wake me?" He says rubbing his eyes.

"I just figured I would let you get a bit more sleep. I didn't want to bother you." I say.

"Hey you can wake me whenever you want and I won't complain." He says grabbing my hand.

"Yeah well now we have to get ready for work." I say getting out of bed to make some coffee.

A few minutes later Jay walks into the kitchen looking like he is still half asleep.

"Here you go." I say handing Jay his coffee.

"Thanks babe" He says taking a sip and sitting down at the table.

We got ready the same as every day, eating breakfast, getting dressed. By 7 we were ready to go and walking out the door to the car.

You wouldn't even know that it was a special day because it was just so, normal.

I am starting to think that Jay actually forgot what today is. I mean would he not have said something already if he remembered?

"Erin you gonna unlock the car?" He says snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Oh yeah." I say unlocking the doors and climbing in.

"Hey is everything alright? You seem a little off." He says closing his door.

"Yeah everything's fine." I say starting the car and driving to the district .

The rest of the drive was silent. Nobody spoke, there was just the quiet sound of the radio.

When we pulled up i parked the car and we got out heading into the district. When we walk in I see Kim standing at the front desk.

"Hey I have to talk to Kim for a minute." I say

"Alright I will see you upstairs." He says walking away.

"Kim hey can I talk to you?" I ask.

"Yeah" She says standing off to the side with me

"So how has it been going?" I ask her.

"Well Adam and I are going to try and fix things again. He is coming over tonight and we are going to talk things through." She says.

"That's great. I'm glad you guys are going to work it out."

"So how are you?" She asks.

"Well he forgot. Jay forgot." I say

"No way. How could he." She says just as surprised as I am

"I don't know. I figured he would remember but he hasn't even hinted to him remembering." I say feeling a lump start to grow in my throat

Jay is the first guy I have ever been with for a year and I really thought he would remember and make this day really special but I guess I was wrong.
