After a long day of asking directions, signing papers, being told rules, being given information, and taking headache medicine I finally found my dorm room and opened the door. A tall dark skinned girl sat watching television. Her puffy hair made her quite unique. "E-excuse me? I'm Charlotte your new roommate." Nice going Charlotte. She turned her head and shot up. "OH MY GOD CHARLOTTE I THOUGHT YOU WOULD NEVER ARRIVE!" Her voice was loud but she seemed comforting. I smiled and nodded. Her large arms wrapped around my neck. "It's so great to finally meet you. I apologize if I frightened you. My voice gets very loud when I'm excited." I smiled and shook my head. "You're perfectly fine." She smiled back. "Oh my goodness! How silly of me! I didn't even introduce myself. I my name is Katherine but my friends call me Katie." She chuckled. Her laugh sounded like that of a mans but it made me happy. Even though I was thousands of miles from my friends I truly felt safe here. "You are just the cutest thing!" She cried. I never considered myself being "cute" before. She talked to me as if I was a puppy but I kinda liked it. She talked non-stop for about an hour when she suggested we go get coffee and some diner since it was getting late. I agreed and said she should pick because I had never been here before. She seemed over the moon that she was allowed to pick where we ate. My little heart immediately liked this girl. She was so joyful and perky. "You know Miss Spencer?" She asked taking a sip of coffee which she obviously did not need. I looked up curiously. "Yes?" I asked saddened that she had stopped talking. "We should go shopping for you." I sucked in air. "I'm not really a shopping type but I guess I could go eventually." I responded. She looked as if she had just won the lottery. In my head I begged her to keep talking. Her voice was so smooth and perky that I never wanted her to stop talking. I think I'm gonna like it here.
