We all gathered around his bed.

Addie didn't say a word.

She was crushed.

She was broken.

I couldn't help her this time.

She held his hand.

The nurse gave her a look.

Addie nodded and closed her eyes, placing her head on Daveeds chest.

As the sound of the monitor filled the room, I covered my ears and squeezed my eyes shut.

Darren put my head into his chest and covered me in his arms. Addie stood up,her hand covering her mouth, she walked out.

....

I stood over the coffin. The smell of roses made my head spin.

Addie stood at the podium. She held herself together. She said a few gut wrenching words, "He would have made a great dad." My heart dropped into my stomach.

"He almost made it too."

I put a hand over my mouth to muffle the tiny scream escaping.

Darren wrapped his arms around me.

Addie motioned to Lin and Anthony. They stood with her. She hugged them both, Anthony kissed her cheek and helped her down the steps. She sat next to me. I reached for her hand. She recoiled for a moment, but then slowly took my hand.

She pulled her jacket closer to her body. She's cold. That's what she gets for insisting on wearing Daveeds favorite Oakland shirt.

Lin and Anthony gave each other sad looks and faced the rest of the cast. Rene sniffled, Leslie remained calm but I saw a few tears roll down his face, Pippa put her arms around her sisters, and Darren cried into my hair.

"I may not live to see our glory..." Lin sang.

"I may not live to see our glory..." Anthony echoed him.

"But I will gladly join the fight..." Lin sang it slower than normal.

"But I will gladly join the fight..." Anthony echoed back, his voice breaking.

"And when our children tell our story..." Lin wiped a few tears from his eyes.

"And when our children tell our story..." Anthony echoed, his voice was almost gone.

"They'll tell the story of tonight..." everyone joined them. Addie whispered something.

I leaned down to hear what she said.

"Tomorrow there'll be more of us..."
