I woke up with a nightmare again.
But even waking up didn't make them go away.
I glance around my room.
"Where's Addie?"
I ask a seated Darren, trying his best to focus on something other than the situation.
He cringed.
"Um Charlotte...She uh went to..."
I raised an eyebrow.
"She had to go back home. Her plane ticket almost expired."
I frown.
"Where did she really go, Darren?"
He cringed further in his seat.
Jessie stepped into the room just then.
He sighed and sat up.
"Time to go, Charlotte."
I folded my arms over my torso.
"Why?"
She scowled at me like a misbehaving child.
"This isn't something we can ignore."
I shrug.
"We can. You are just choosing not to."
She groans and runs a hand through her hair.
Stop being an asshole, Charlotte.
I sigh.
A nurse comes in to unhook the cords on my arm.
I cringe as she removes a needle from my hand.
"Have a good day."
We are supposed to leave today.
I can't leave.
I can't go back.
I have to stay with Marcus and Jessie.
I can't go.
I can't do this.
My phone buzzes.
Darren comes to my side and leans to see it.
His face pales and he rips it from my sight.
"Darren what the hell?!"
He takes my hand and gives me my clothes.
"Get dressed we need to leave."
I follow his instructions and dress myself.
My head pounds and throbs.
"Shit!"
I fall over, using the railing of the hospital bed to steady myself.
