As we neared the gate for our flight, my stomach twisted more and more. I hate flying. I'm not sure why. It just makes me super panicky sometimes. Something about being in a inescapable flying machine surrounded by a hundred other people for who knows how long messes with my head.
"Have fun! Oh, but not too much fun. We want you to come back."
I laughed.
"Sure thing."
I hugged his neck.
"Thank you so much Kurt. I can't even believe this is real."
He laughed lightly.
"Anything baby."
Addie had been talking to Daveed FOREVER.
"Addie! Honey, we could have gone to Australia and back before you got done over there. I've said goodbye to everyone already!"
She shot me a playful glare.
"You're taking your boyfriend with you Charlotte."
I shrugged.
"Please come back in one piece. I don't have a backup Eliza." Lin joked and gave me a high five.
"Sure thing, Love."
"Last call for flight 235 to France."
"Wait!" Kurt called as we collected our things, my single backpack, Addie's suitcase, and Darren's slightly larger duffel bag.
"I forgot to give you this."
He handed me a small notebook with a pen decorated like the flag of France. It had tiny slips for pictures in it.
"I know you like to write Charlotte. And Addie likes to take pictures."
He paused and looked at Darren.
"Darren enjoys planes."
We all laugh.
"I want you to write and take pictures everyday. I expect every page full and ready for me to read by the time that plane lands back here in a few weeks."
I nod, putting the notebook in my backpack.
"Have a great trip. Tell me how the Italian version of Cats is."
We gathered up and waved to our new friends. I would have never guessed I would be waving to these people before getting on a plane to France.
Life. It's a surprising thing.
I took the window seat, Addie sat next to me, and poor Darren had to sit with some old guy in the row ahead of us.
"I love you Darren."
"Shut up."
Addie fell asleep within twenty minutes, Darren followed shortly behind her.
Ramos- Eat a Frenchman for me.
Charlotte- I thought Daveed was with you.
Ramos- Dammit I meant french bread.
Charlotte- Get a life Ramos.
I chuckled softly. A boom of thunder outside the window made me jump halfway out of my seat. Addie jolted awake.
Shit.
