I took a deep breath of New York air. I was almost through my first semester of my third year in NYU.

You did it Charlotte. You made it.

I sighed heavily as people bustled around me.

Ahead of me two familiar faces smiled and waved.

"Hey Charlotte!" Anthony Ramos called.

Anthony Ramos it talking to me.

Me, the little girl who sang in her basement when everyone was gone.

Me, the one who got pushed around by old friends.

Me, Charlotte...Me.

"Ramos! Jazzy!"

I embraced them, their hands pulling away to hug my neck.

"Ready for the show tonight? It's a big one tonight."

I raised an eyebrow at him.

"What do you mean?"

He looked at Jazzy.

"Weren't you paying attention this morning to Kurt? The Director of Hamilton is coming tonight."

My eyes went wide.

"Shit I forgot about that..."

Jasmine put her hand on my shoulder.

"It's ok. You can do this. You're an amazing performer. I believe in you."

I smiled at her and hugged her neck.

"Thanks guys."

They smiled at me and walked away.

They're so cute.

I'm jealous.

____________

I stood behind the curtain, barely breathing. I stuck my head slightly through. I saw a mix of faces. Black, white, female, male, green eyes, blue eyes, brown hair, black hair.

I pushed the curtains back into place. I decided to go ahead and send in my audition tape for Hamilton. I had Kurt sing with me. My heart raced.

A hand laid on my shoulder.

"We can do this." Addie said quietly.

I went back into my corner and got into my spot for the opening song.

I heard Darren begin the show.

"Lights up on Washington Heights..."

Here we go....

_______________

After the show I hugged my cast mates and went directly to my dressing room.

I walked out wearing my Hamilton hoodie and a pair of black jeans.

"Great job Charlotte..." Darren said, taking off his hat and fixing his hair.

"Yeah you too..."

I walked away awkwardly.

I have no idea how to feel about any of this.

Kurt stopped me before I could leave.

"Charlotte...Don't forget tomorrow we are going to eat together."

We?

"We?" I thought aloud.

"Me, you, Addison, and Darren are going to discuss future opportunities over lunch after the matinee tomorrow."
