Darren
"Darren Bara you are officially insane!"
Addie struggles to keep up with me through the busy streets.
I shrug and keep walking.
"You can't just pick up and go to France!"
I wave her away.
"Charlotte did."
She growls, swerving through people.
"Charlotte was having a crisis. Can't you just wait until she comes back?"
I freeze, causing a woman behind me to ram into my back.
She cursed and walked around me.
"We don't know for sure she will."
Addie catches up.
"What does that mean?"
Tears burn the corners of my eyes.
"What if she doesn't come back?"
Addie is silent.
She's thinking the same thing.
She could leave.
She could leave and never come back.
Just....
Poof!
"She loves this city. She wouldn't."
She pauses, looking up at an M&Ms commercial on a billboard.
"She couldn't."
I spin my head around, getting a panoramic view of the city I've seen so many times.
What if she stays?
What if she never speaks to me again?
What if she finds someone else?
What if she gets hurt or something?
"What if-?"
Addie holds up a hand.
"No 'what ifs'."
She looks up at the sky again.
After a minute, she speaks.
"Fine."
I raise an eyebrow and dodge a running man.
"Fine what?"
She sighs, finally looking at me.
"Let's go to France."
