Darren put a small blue suitcase and an even smaller black one into a taxi.

"You do understand we are gone for a week, right, Charlotte?"

I was staring at the sky.

It's beautiful.

Even if it's slightly blocked by buildings.

"I pack lightly."

He shrugs and steps into the small car.

I take a deep breath.

Breathe, Charlotte.

You can do this.

It's only a week.

No problem.

Not one.

I felt shame hit me when I stepped into the taxi.

I never told him.

We've been married for almost two years and he still doesn't know about my dad.

Not all of it at least.

Nobody knew all of it.

Except Katie.

I shake my head and hide a small sob with a big cough.

The man drives us to the airport.

I breathe deeply as we walk through the airport.

Darren fidgets in his seat.

I take his hand.

"Don't be so fussy. I swear it, You're like a child."

He smiles.

"I'm just really excited. I've always wanted to see Nashville. A real sueño of mine."

I sigh.

A dream.

Of course it is.

I can do this.

For Darren?

I look at his happy face.

He looks so much better already.

For Darren.
