I growl into my phone.
"Come on, Kurt! You and I both know that you're aware of where she is."
Kurt sighs.
"So you're going to fly all the way to the Bahamas to talk to Addie for the first time in a year?"
I nod.
He's silent.
"Yes."
He groans.
"You are a pain in the ass, Charlotte Spencer."
I clear my throat.
"Kidding."
I roll my eyes and hang up.
Darren yawns from his seat in the living room.
"You're insane, Charlotte."
I flop on the couch next to him.
"This is a terrible idea."
He nods.
Kaydance struggles with the coffee pot.
"Your pot is making damn weird noises, Charlotte."
I laugh softly and stand up to help her.
____________
The plane lands quicker than I thought.
"So, you're telling me I get to see New York and the Bahamas in a week?"
Kaydance pokes her head over the top of the seat.
I nod.
Darren groans.
"You're lucky I'm a sucker for the beach."
He chuckles.
That's the first time I've heard him speak this whole flight.
Kaydance laughs.
"So Darren's got a guilty pleasure."
She smirks.
"I know Charlotte's guilty pleasure."
I shoot her a look.
"You wouldn't dare."
She grins, evilly.
I raise a cautious eyebrow.
"Charlotte likes dorky gaming shit!"
I kick her seat.
She doubles over, laughing.
"I hope you burn in hell, Kaydance."
Darren snorts.
I punch his arm.
"Shut up!"

"What resort was it again?"
I roll my suitcase behind me as we trudge though the sandy road.
"This is a terrible idea."
I scoff.
"I didn't ask what the idea was. I asked what the resort was."
Darren rolls his eyes.
"Isle of Palms."
I see the sign a few blocks from here.
"You're going to get murdered by Addie's Oak Tree."
