It'd been a week since Winnie's birthday, but Louise had insisted on throwing a party for her, one of the many things that both he and Phil had forgotten to remember. Though he hadn't gotten many parties when he was younger, his mother simply gave him a gift, a peck on the forehead, and a soft "Happy Birthday, Daniel." And then that would be it. But he couldn't deny the way that it felt good to give Winnie one, even if he never saw the point of them before. He was currently sitting on the ground with the birthday girl sitting between his legs, leaning forward to play dolly with Darcy. Louise had been right, this was a great idea. "Phil, come help me get some drinks for the girls, I'm pretty sure we have some apple juice. And we can collect our adult drinks." Her eyes had sparkled upon the mention of said drink, alcohol. Most likely. So he was left with the girls as they vanished into the kitchen, and he wasn't complaining, he loved Winnie more than anything in the entire world. And Darcy was a delight. Picking up one of the dark haired dolls, he smiled. His father had never allowed him, but sometimes he'd play dolls with his friends, they saw nothing wrong with it, and it expanded their interests. "Daniel, which flavour do you want?" Looking up, he quickly set down the doll, pushing it away. Call it an instinct. Clearing his throat he gave her a sheepish smile.
"Plain, you know I don't usually like flavoured.. . drinks." That wasn't true, he cherished the occasional flavoured rebina every now and then, but otherwise he wasn't big on trying new flavours, he didn't like things to change all that much. Change usually scared him. Once she was gone though, he picked the doll back up quickly and started to play with the girls, his eyes bright, and his smile large. "Phil! What's taking so long?" They'd been taking a rather long time in the kitchen, and it made him uneasy. He trusted Phil, of course. And Louise knew better, she was one of his best friends. But still, something wasn't right. But before he had anymore time to think about what could be happening, they both appeared again, Louise handing the girls their drinks, and Phil handing him his. He took a rather large drink.
Watching as Phil sat beside him, he couldn't help but smile. He wasn't doing anything special, just sitting, sipping his drink every once in awhile, and watching the girls play. But it was moment's like this when he loved admiring Phil. Everything was calm and serene, and could just be enjoyed. That is, until a flash ripped him away from his thoughts. Louise was giving him a rather large grin, she probably had forgotten the flash was one. Shaking his head he just rolled his eyes and took another sip of his drink. "Mummy, can me and Winnie go up to my room? We're gonna watch TV!" Darcy shot a certain look towards Louise, who practically melted upon impact, nodding without a second thought, and they dashed off to play.
Then they were left in silence, barely looking at each other, and taking small sips of their drinks. "So, what do you guys think of doing a collab?" It was a random thought, but he knew that Louise was just trying to fill the void of silence, she hated it when it was quiet, especially when she seemed to have something on her mind. "I dunno, the internet's been wanting me to do the two of yous makeup for quite some time." She took another swig of her drink, sinking into her couch and closing her eyes, letting out a soft sigh. "Been awhile since we've done this, huh? The three of us, I mean. Just hanging out, no deadlines, expectations. Nothing."
"Yeah." He saw Phil lay onto his back, despite being on the floor, and he obviously wanted Dan to join him, laying his arm around as if for him to lay on, and then curl around him. But he didn't really feel like it right now, and he had to look away before he saw Phil's hurt expression. It was nothing against him, he just felt a little uncomfortable for some reason right now. He was on edge, maybe it was the fact that he couldn't see Winnie, or the fact that he had no idea what had been going on in the kitchen. Though he knew that there was no segway into asking such a question. And he'd most likely turn out looking like a stupid fool if he did. "Dan, are you alright? Your looking a little sickly." Feeling a hand on his forehead, he pulled away, bringing his knees up to his chest and taking another sip of his drink. He didn't want anyone touching him, even Phil. And that was a rare occurrence. Phil was now fully aware of what was going on, scooting closer to him and wrapping his arms around him, in an attempt to soothe him, but honestly, it just made him more rigid, and he ended up pushing him away. He needed to get away, clear his head, figure out why he felt like he needed to get away from everything and everyone. Standing up he wobbled a bit, before quickly making his way towards the door, getting his shoes on, and completely forgetting his jacket. "Dan! Where are you going?" Turning around he saw Phil standing a distance from him, a hurt and confused expression on his face, and it broke his heart. But he couldn't answer, just dashing out the door. He just needed to get away, clear his head, his thoughts were all jumbled up.
