"Papa, what is this?" She held up an album, and I had to stop myself before I snatched it right out of her hands, I knew she wouldn't break it, but she'd seemed to have picked up on Phil's clumsiness, because she was dropping a /lot/ of things lately. One of those things being my own sanity. But I knew I could never be mad at her, I mean, just look at that adorable face.
Clearing my throat, I squatted beside her, and smiled. "That, little cub, is the Hamilton album. Something me and daddy are going to see at the end of the ear, but I just couldn't resist getting the album beforehand, despite saying I wouldn't. It's /fantastic/." Finally being able to grab it out of her tiny hands, she tipped her head while looking up at me. "Oh, you want to listen to it?" She nodded, her light eyes lighting up and she settled herself in my lap, but I just shook my head and stood up, knocking her out of my lap. "Silly cub, papa has to put in /before/ you sit on my lap, okay?" Putting the old vinyl in, finally having bought something to play them on, I watched as her eyes lit up at the beginning song, 'Alexander Hamilton'.
While I thought Phil /was/ out getting groceries, he'd apparently come back a lot sooner that I thought he would, because he was suddenly peeking into my room with a know it all look on his face. We'd made a bet around the time I'd gotten the tickets, we'd bet whether or not I'd be able to /not/ listen to the album before we went to see the show, and I guess he won, but oh well. I hadn't really lost anything. He'd just bet a few pounds, I could afford that. "Well, are you going to join us, or just continue being a creep, standing in the door like that." Smiling softly, I knew I'd gotten him. With a sullen expression on his face, he did come and join us, sitting beside us as the next song started up, and he allowed me to lay my head down on his shoulder. "Thanks, Phil. I was really starting to cramp up, sitting all straight and all that."
"You're welcome." He was smiling, and he was obviously in a state of comfort, wrapping an arm around my waist, his hand resting on my hip. I loved the little moments, when we did something that meant absolutely nothing to anyone else, but to us, it was everything. It was little moments like this that I hoped Winnie would remember forever. I didn't want her to remember the last few months, though I knew it was an unforgettable time, but I wanted her to remember stupid moments like this. When Phil fricked up and tripped, messing up dinner, or when we made chocolate milk bubbles together, and I ended up getting milk in my nose, or something like this. When we were just listening to music together. Moments like these.
"But I actually came in here for a reason, Dan." That was the last thing I wanted to hear, but I knew that he wouldn't have asked if he didn't have to. Picking Winnie up, I set her on my bed, allowing her to even hold the album's cover, and she seemed pretty content with her situation, so we let her be for the time being. "Okay, so. Good news, or bad news?" Groaning, I just massaged the bridge of my nose, shrugging at him. I'd hear both eventually. Why not bad?
But he'd obviously taken that as telling me the good first. "Well, um, I've reached 15,000 subscribers!" His ocean eyes lit up, and I even grinned, grabbing his hands and giving them a loving squeeze, followed by a long, drawn out kiss on the lips. "Alright, now I suppose it's time for the bad news, hmm?" I nodded, what exactly could go wrong? "Um - My mum is coming over to stay for a little while, you know, to kindle a relationship with Winnie." Mrs Lester? What exactly was so bad about that? "I-I didn't know how you'd take the news, so I just labeled it as bad, did I mislabel again?" Smiling, I nodded, resting my forehead against his.
"I /love/ your mum, Phil! I have no idea why you would think that's a bad thing! Besides, I think she and Winnie will get along just fine. They are so much alike, I'd be surprised if they /didn't/ get along." Pecking his lips again, I giggled. "You are silly, you know that? Stressing over something so silly! When is she coming?" When he gave a small whisper of 'day after next' I stopped short. "Okay, so, today is Friday, she's coming Sunday?" He nodded, and gave me a sheepish grin. He must've talked to her awhile ago and set this all up. "Well you're lucky we having nothing important planned, hmm? Now, go tell Winnie the good news, Phil."
