It went from June to November within the blink of an eye, and I began to wonder how exactly 2 years had slipped by without us noticing. Really, I should be wondering how the past 7 years had slipped by without us noticing, we'd been married for almost 5-6 years, and I still feel like it was only yesterday I watched Phil walk up to the altar and take my hand in his, promising to never abandon me, to always love and cherish me. For better or for worse, through thick and thin, he would stay by my side, as my friend and my lover. It's crazy how life can just pass you by without you even batting an eye. "Are you ready, Dan?" Holding onto my hand, he kept his other arm wrapped around Winnie, she was sat on his lap, he gave me a questioning look. Yes, I was ready. Leaning forward I pressed my lips against his and stayed there for a few seconds before pulling away. A dorky grin appeared on his lips and his pale face flushed with colour.
"I think she'll love Japan, Phil." That's right, this year we were going to Japan, but we weren't going alone. We'd invited Felix and Marzia to join us, and though they had to rearrange a few things in their schedule, they were more than happy to join us. They hadn't been to Japan in a couple of years, so it was about time they made another stop and restocked on stuff they didn't know how to use, and know they don't need but they just have to have it because it's so cute or doesn't cost to much. Winnie crawled from Phil's lap over to mine, because I'd gotten the seat with the window, and she gave noises of awe as we began to arrive in Japan. It'd be another couple of minutes before we actually landed, but I knew that it would be worth it. "That's it, Winnie, that's Japan. Colourful compared to London, isn't it?" She was pressing her entire face against the glass, I guess she just couldn't get enough of the sight. Neither could I really.
Grabbing my hand she practically pulled me off the plane, the rest of our little posse having to jog to keep up, she might have short legs, but she was damn fast. "I don't want our bags to get lost, daddy said your guys' bags got lost one time, and I put Pooh Bear in my bag, trusting the bag to protect him, but I guess I shouldn't have done that. Papa, I don't wanna lose my Bear." I would never know why Phil told her these kinds of stories, I understood he was trying to get her to understand what our lives were like beforehand and everything, but most times he just ended up freaking her out or making her paranoid, I was paranoid enough for the three of us.
Phil grabbed my hand as well, but I pulled it out gently, an apologetic expression on my face as I looked over at him, but he just gave me an understanding one back. He tried, and it didn't work out the way he'd wanted it too, I was just lucky he was so understanding and nice about it, he didn't have to be considerate if he didn't want to, he could be as selfish as he wanted, but that's just one more, out of a million things, I love about him. But I kept Winnie's hand in my own because I didn't want her getting lost, the last thing we needed was losing our daughter in a public airport, we'd be worst parents of the year times a hundred. Not to mention that I'd probably have a full blown meltdown about it all. "I'm sure our bags aren't going to be lost, cub, and Pooh Bear is going to be just fine. He's waiting for you right now, you know he is, don't you?" Smiling, I squeezed her hand and walked towards the baggage conveyor belt.
"Papa." She was now tugging on my hand, and if she wasn't careful, she was going to pull my arm out of it's socket. "Papa, can I get on that?" Pointing at the belt, her light eyes lit up with excitement, she /was/ the right size to get on it, and as long as she didn't go where the bags went when transported, then I didn't see the harm in it. Picking her up from under her arms I grinned as she let out a string of giggles, getting on her knees and placing the palm of her hands down flat on the belt, her eyes shining brightly. "Papa! I'm moving, and I'm not even walking!" Her squeals echoed throughout the airport, we mostly got amused smiled, from people with young children themselves, mostly mums, but a few dads here and there. But then came the security, but instead of getting angry at us, she simply told us to get her off the belt.
