"April 1st, should we post the video?" I was of course talking about the video we'd recorded a couple of months ago of a daily in the life of us, but this one had a special twist to it. It was our coming out video more or less. Running a finger over my knuckles and smiled and looked up at me with a questioning glance, he knew what I was talking about but he was letting me have a choice. It was all up to me at this point. Resting my head on his shoulder I looked up into the ocean eyes I'd fallen in love with over and over again. "How about let's wait a little bit longer? I want this peace and quiet for just a little longer." Closing my eyes I smiled and kissed the one place I could which just so happened to be his jawline. "I want the ability to go out in public without being asked so many questions for just a little bit longer, and I want to be able to hold hands without voices appearing in my head, okay? I swear. We'll do it soon, but would it be possible for us to hold out on it, just a little bit longer?" I was begging at this point, something I never felt that I needed to do with Phil because he wasn't one to take something away rudely.
Nodding he smiled and pecked the top of my head. "Of course, Bear." Running his fingers through my hair he lay back even farther so I was right on top of him, a first in any type of situation. "Shall we go wake up Winnie? I think we should let her sleep a little longer, we've got no place to be and it's really early." I couldn't agree any faster, I didn't want to get out of bed anymore than he did. Which didn't seem very much. "Besides, I want to cuddle more." I snuggled down into him more and let out a sigh of relief. "Winnie usually wakes us up if she gets up before us, doesn't she?" I whispered, feeling myself fall asleep again. "So just wait." I felt his hands move all around my body until they found their usual spots, and I smiled at the warmth they produced. "You know this would be a lot more fun if you were actually taller."
He scoffed and punched me gently with a laugh following him soon after. "Come on, you know I'm only teasing, old man." I squealed when he tightened his arms around me and starting to tickle me. "UNCLE! UNCLE!" I was screaming and shouting for him to stop in the middle of laughing, totally forgetting that we were trying to be quiet for Winnie. "I GIVE! PHIL I GIVE!" But he didn't seem done with me yet. Kissing me sweetly he pulled back and grinned with that stupid grin plastered on his face. "Idiot." I mumbled and pushed him away from me, only to grab him and pull him closer again. I really hated it when he was away from me, I got so cold without his warmth. "Do you hear that?" We'd been lying down for a little bit when noises that sounded like they were trying to be quiet started up. "Phil, did you lock the door before you came to bed last night?" Nodding he got up and took my head as I slowly followed behind him, Winnie's door was still open so it was clear no one had gotten to far into the flat yet. "Hello?" I called out like a stupid white person in a horror film who should know to keep their mouth shut when they hear suspicious noises in their house. "I will have you know that we can both kick your ass if need be, I doubt you're as tall as us." And when we rounded the corner into the kitchen I found that we were right, she wasn't nearly as tall as us. That's because it was Winnie. Laughing so suddenly that it caught Phil off guard I grinned at him and couldn't stop.
Winnie was beaming at us with that lovable smile of hers and continued on what we found out was her cereal mission. "You could've asked for our help, Sunshine." Phil was whispering as he yawned and grabbed a bowl for her and poured the cereal in first and then the milk. She just gave a huff and crossed her arms across her chest. She was 7 years old, almost 8, she didn't need her Daddy to get things for her. I whapped Phil's arm and he suddenly realised what he'd done, the same thing our parents had realised about us around this age. We were starting to experience and experiment with a little bit of independence. He smiled at her without letting her see that he understood, at least a little bit. "How about you go and get the milk, hmm" I saw the way her eyes lit up and she ran for the fridge, opening it happily and pulling out the milk with a happy grin. "Alright, Daniel do you want some breakfast, or do you want to get your own as well?" He was grinning at me, those ocean eyes sparkling lovingly towards me as he poked at my side. "Alright, alright, I get it. Independence." He beamed at me innocently before scattering off. Shaking my head I got the cereal after Winnie and just poured it in the bowl, before realising that I didn't have a bowl and the milk went everywhere. Hearing the laughter bubble out of Phil's I hissed and grabbed the paper towels. "You are such an idiot."
"So I didn't have any plans for today but I was thinking we could have a family day." There was a smile on Phil's face as he silently ate. "How about we go to a park, or even the mall? I think that Louise would be up for a day of shopping." Chewing slowly I smiled at the way her face lit up with happiness. "Or maybe it can just be a stay in day today, you know? Watch a few movies and laze around in our jammies, how does that sound, Little Cub?" Ruffling up her curls I scooted away once she started to swat in my direction, huffing and puffing like she had earlier. But I knew that we had a winner of an idea. "Okay, Phil you pick out the movies with Winnie and I'll get the duvets and sweets for our snacks and make some popcorn. Make sure they are either long movies, or a couple of movies. I want to do this all day, or until one of us falls asleep." I was looking at Phil like I knew exactly what was going on through his mind. No matter what we were doing, New Years, a special of our favourite show on the TV, anything. He managed to fall asleep before me. And the older he got probably wouldn't be changing that anytime soon. "Come on you two, chop chop. I'll clean up the kitchen and you get started."
Pecking Phil's cheek I went to both our rooms to collect our duvets, surprised when they already had the movies picked out and were now waiting on me to get the snacks and popcorn. "Come on, Papa. Chop chop." Clapping her hands together teasingly she looked up at me with those darks eyes I had fallen in love with the first time I'd ever laid my eyes on them. And I knew that I would never fall out of love with them. You can't exactly just fall out of love. Well you can, but I've never heard of anyone, especially a father, falling out of love with his child.
