Auditions and dance captain

Rileys POV:
Today is the day Im auditioning for A troup for internationals. Im very nervous cause I havent auditioned for something like this in a long time. Hunter comes over to me.
'How are you feeling?'
'Nervous'
'Ive heard that your a strong dancer so you should be fine'
'Can I ask you something?'
'Sure'
'Did you know why James really left?'
'Yeah'
'Would you have done it if you were him?'
'I dont know. Me and James are very different by the way we think but I can tell you that if I was him, I would have done it'
'Why?'
'Cause it was for the person I love'
He then walkes off. Hes right. It was because he loved me. As much as I want to be mad at him for giving this chance away, I need to respect his decission and I will.
'Allright dancers! Its time to begin auditions for A troup internationals team!' Miss Kate the studio owner says.
We all cheer. Everyone does there solo and the girl before me takes her turn. I feel a hand on my shoulder.
'James? What are you doing here?'
'I wanted to see you audition. Just so you can be a bit relaxed'
I smile at him.
'Listen about yesterday, Im sorry for giving out to you about it. It was wrong of me'
'Dont even worry about it'
'From now on Im just going to let you make your own decissions. I wont always like them but if its what you want then I wont stop you'
He smiles.
'I appreciate it Riles. I also hope that you make it in. You deserve it'
I smile.
'Riley! Your next!'
'Good luck. Youll kill it'
'Thanks'
I start my solo. Ive worked really hard at it and I just hope its good enough to impress Miss Kate and everyone else. I look over at James who seems to be enjoying it. Im so glad weve sorted this thing between us cause fighting with him is awfull and I never want to fight with him again.

I finish my solo and everyone claps.
'Well do we have a clear winner?' Miss Kate smiles.
They all look at me.
'RILEY!'
'Congradulations Riley! Your part of A troup!'
I smile and run to James jumping into his arms.
'Oh my god!'
'You did it Ri! Well done!'
I smile at him and kiss him.
They all clap.
'Lets celebrate! Juice on Riley!' James smiles.

We all head down to culture shock and I order the drinks. We sit down and start to chat.
'Guyes. I have band practice so I gotta go. Ill catch you later' James says getting up.
'James'
He turns around.
'Love you'
He smiles.
'Love you too babe. See you later' he says and leaves.
'So you and James are pretty good?' Thalia asks.
'Yeah. Weve had our rough patches but we stuck by it and got through it together'
'What does it feel like replacing him?'
'I dont know. It still hasnt sunk in yet but Ill get back to you on that'
They smile.
'Hey Ri!'
I turn around and see my sister comming towards me.
'Hey Em! Guyes this is my sister Emily. Emily this is A troup'
She smiles at them.
'Wheres James?'
'Band practice'
'Congrats girl! You got in!'
She hugs me.
'And it looks like your fitting in really well!'
'Yeah! These guyes are my family now and were going to win internationals together!'
We all cheer
My phone buzzes.
'Oh. Miss Kate wants us in studio A'
We all run up to studio A and see her waiting for us.
'Now that everyones here, we need to sort out a dance captain. The person Ive chosen is Gisselle'
We all cheere.
'Wait! What about me? I want to be dance captain!' Shantel says.
'Allright. This is what we will do. Gisselle. You will choreograph a hip hop routeen and Shantell will choreograph a contemporary routeen. They will be trios. Who ever has the best choreo wins dance captain. Fair?'
We all nod.
'Right. Shantell. You have studio A and Gisselle has the music room'
'Am sorry. But the band is practicing right now so the music room isnt free' I tell them.
'Okay. Gisselle you have studio B. You have one hour and then you can show us what you got'
They go and practice. I go into the music room and see James and the band preforming lost and found. Their really good at it. I sit down and listen. I smile at James as he plays. He just looks so happy and Im glad to see him like that. Maby this wasnt a bad decission after all. They finish the song. James comes over to me.
'Wasnt I ment to meet you later?'
'Yeah. But I kinda got bored so I came here'
'Whats up?'
'Well Miss Kate asked Gisselle to be dance captain'
'Seriously?! Thats sick! Shes going to kill it!'
'But....Shantell also wants to be captain'
'As Amanda says, classic Shantell. Always thinks shes better than everyone'
I laugh.
'Gisselle has to choreograph a trio hip hop routeen, while Shantel choreographs a contemporary trio routeen. Shantell has studio A and Gisselle has studio B'
'Who do you think will get it?'
'Im hoping Gisselle. Miss Kate wouldnt have picked her to be captain if she didnt think she was good enough so maby Gisselle'
He nods.
'I hope so too. Dont say I told you this but Ive never been a fan of Shantell'
I smile.
'Well I better go. Ill see you later'
I stand up.
'Okay'
'Wait James. Are we still going to be okay? You know with you with the band and me in A troup. Are we still going to get to hang out and spend time together?'
He smiles.
'Riley. If theres one thing that I can promise you, its that I will always find a way to make time for you. Always'
I smile and kiss him.
'Yo James! Were still here you know!' Shane who his one of the band members smiles.
I laugh.
'Well I better get going'
'See you later. Text me if you need anything'
'Will do'
I smile and walk out of the room.
I hear music starting to play again.
Im just so glad that we are both happy with our choices and that we can still spend time together.
I go into studio A where everyone is getting ready to watch the trios. Shantells group goes first. Its really good. Their story line is about three sibblings fighting and bickering with eachother. Its really creative, but it feels like something is missing. Its like its too safe or something.
Gisselles group goes next.
I have to say that the ideas for this one is really good. Their killing it.
'Allright! Who should it be? Shantelle or Gisselle?'
We all look at eachother.
'Gisselle'
Everyone votes for Gisselle. Im so happy for her.
'Gisselle it is!'
We all give her a hug.
'Are you serious right now?'
Shantell stands infront of everyone.
'Your choosing the wrong person. I should be dance captain!'
'Well you both showed your routeens and Gisselles was just the better of the two' Miss Kate tells her.
'Well if you cant appreciate the talent I have then its your loss. Im done with the next step. For good'
She then stormed out of the room.
We all stood in silence.
'Whoes going to replace her now? Weve already held auditions and its clear that Riley was the better dancer out of everyone' Gisselle says.
Everyone then looks at me.
'Why are you all staring at me?' I asked.
'Riley. You need to convince James to come back to A troup. I know you auditioned to take his spot but we need him. Hes the only good dancer left'
'I cant do that. We promised eachother wed respect our decisions and his was that he didnt want to be in A troup anymore. Hes just so happy right now with the band and Im happy that hes happy and I dont want to ruin that in him. Hes been through so much and the least I could do is leave him make his own choices'
'Please Riley. Try'
'I have! Yesterday before auditioning we had an argument over it and I really dont want to go through that again'
'Riley. We know you care about him but we need him. And you know that! Just talk to him'
'Im sorry guyes. I cant do it. I cant force him to do something he doesnt want to do'
I then walk out of the studio. I know Im letting the team down, but at the end of the day, the person who fills in Shantells spot must want it. They cant be forced into it. If I force James, not only will it tear us apart but the team too. He needs to want to do it or that connection wont be there. And thats very important to have when dancing in a group.
