Too much drama

James POV:
Me and Riley are in the hospital waiting for news on Alfie. The twins are asleep in the buggy. Riley is fidgeting with her rings. I look at her.
'Would you relax'
'I cant relax James! He just got stabbed because of me. Me!'
I sigh and put the magazeen down that I was reading.
'Okay first, dont blame yourself for what happened. And second hes going to be fine. Hes in the best hospital that Toronto has!'
She puts her head down.
I take her hands.
'Hes going to be fine'
She looks at me.
'Its just not fair' she says.
'Whats not fair?'
'That everyone I care about seems to suffer because of me'
'Thats not true. We protect you because we love you. Youd do the same for us wouldnt you?'
She nods. She rests her head on my shoulder. I gently rub her back. A nurce walks towards us.
'How is he?'
'Hes good. The stab wound wasnt that bad. Hes stitched up and is resting'
'Okay. Thank you'
She nods and leaves.
I turn to Riley.
'See. I told you hed be fine'
'I know. I know hes going to be fine'
'Then whats the problem?'
She puts her head down and walks over to the twins.
'Ri?'
'Its just...I feel he risked his life for me'
'He did'
'But I feel he only did it because he wanted to proove how sorry he was'
'He did it because...as much as I hate to say this...he did it because he loves you. And he doesnt want to see you get hurt'
She looks at me.
'A few nights ago when I was doing the night feeds I went downstairs to get fresh bottles and Alfie was up. He told me he was worried for us. He said he was trying to keep a track on his brother. He told me that if he got his hands on you it wouldnt end well. Hes been days trying to track him down but it didnt work for him. Thats why he risked himself for you. Because he cares about you and he wants you to have a happy life. He doesnt want to see the one person that he cares about end up dead infront of him'
'Well Id rather me then him'
'Really? So youd rather die and leave your two children without a mother?'
'N-no. I didnt mean that'
'Then just be greatfull your alive'
'I never meant for any of this to happen. I never wanted it to happen'
'I know baby'
She wraps her arms around me tightly.
'What are we going to tell Piper? She walked in and saw him lying in his own blood' she asks.
'Dont worry. Ill talk to her'
She nods.
'How about you head home with Ashlyn and Dylan. Ill see you later'
'Okay'
She wheels the buggy away.
'Riley'
'Yeah'
'I love you'
'I love you too'
I watch her leave.
Why does everything have to go wrong. The minute we think our life is back on track, something happens to change that.
I wish that all this drama would just go away.
