Been and gone

James POV:
I make my way into school with Riley. Its our first day back since all the drama that happend with Alfie. Everyone gathers around us as we walk in.
'James! How are you? Are you okay?' Charlie asks.
'Two arms, two legs, two ears, two eyes, one mouth, one nose, one head and a girl. Yeah Im good' I say.
'Oh so Im just a girl now?' Riley buts in.
'Let me rephrase that. And my girl. Better?'
'Yep'
I smile.
Riley looks around.
'Has anyone seen Beth?'
They put their heads down.
'Shes over there'
We look over and see her sitting by the lockers.
We walk over to her.
'Hey Beth. You okay?' Riley asks.
I see her wipe a tear. She quickly stands up.
'Yeah Im fine. How are you guyes'
'We're good. Something that cant be said about you' I say.
'Im fine. Really'
'Please tell us. We can help' Riley pleads.
She sighs.
'Remember when I came here I said I was only staying for the year?'
We nod.
'Well the year is up. Im moving back to the other side of the country tomorrow. Im leaving school early today to finish packing and leaving tomorrow morning'
'Oh Beth' Riley says hugging her.
'What about you and Charlie?'
'We ended things between us. We decided that it would be too hard. We will still keep in contact though'
I place my hand on her shoulder.
'We're going to miss you' I say.
She nods. She looks at her phone.
'My mom is here. I gotta go'
We hug her.
'You take care of yourself okay?'
She smiles weakly gathering her things and walking off. We follow her outside and see everyone waiting.
'Whats all this'
'Its just a little goodbye gift from everyone' Michelle smjles.
They hand her little gifts. Riley turns to me.
'James. James I didnt get her anything. What am I going to do? I feel so bad'
I just smile at her as Beth walks over.
'Riley you dont need to get me anything. Youve given me the best gift ever which was your freindship. And I couldnt ask for a better friend'
She pulls her in for a hug. They stay like that for a bit and then pull away both teary.
'Well I should go'
She turns around and walks off. She gets into her car as it drives off. She waves at us as we watch her go.
Riley leans against me.
'Im going to miss her'
'Me too Ri. Me too'
Its going to be weird without Beth. But we will be okay.
Shes just another student that has been and gone.
