Goodbyes

James POV:
Im waiting outside for my mom to pick me up. We just won internationals and it feels amazing but its also bitter sweet since I cant stay to celebrate with them. Ive changed back into my A troup track suit. I might as well wear it once more. My mom pulls up outside the gate. She takes my things and puts them in the back.
'Congradulations on winning honey' she smiles.
'Thanks'
I just feel so low that I have to leave.
'James!'
I turn around and see Riley running towards me. She jumps into my arms and hugs me. I hold her close to me.
'Please dont go'
I look at her. She has tears forming in her eyes.
'I have to baby. I have no other choice'
'But we never got to celebrate our win'
'Yes we did. Backstage'
'But that was for only a few seconds'
I sigh.
'Believe me. I dont want to go but I have to'
She looks at me.
'Im going to miss you'
'Im going to miss you too. But Ill visit as often as I can'
'Promise?'
'Promise'
She hugs me.
I look over her shoulder and see all of A troup and Miss Kate behind her.
'We will miss you James' Miss Kate smiles.
I look at her.
'I thought that if your going to say goodbye then you might as well say it to everyone'
I look at her confused. They move aside and I see B and J troup, baby ballet and everyone from my class in school standing there. Im shocked.
'What are ye doing here?'
'We came to say goodbye'
'You took two planes here just to say goodbye?'
'You played a big part at the next step James and at your school. You were there for everyone so now its our turn to be there for you'
I look at them.
I suddenly feel tears falling and I cant stop them. I look at Riley who is crying.
'Not so tough anymore are you?' she smiles.
'Not really' I say sniffling. She hugs me.
They all gather around us as we hug. Im going to miss all of them so much.
'James. We gotta go!' my mom calls.
I pull away from them.
'Well I better go'
They smile.
'Call us when you can'
'Sure'
I walk towards the car. Riley walks up to me.
'Check the front pocket of your bag. I put something there for you'
I look at her.
'What is it?'
'A surprise!'
I smile and kiss her.
'I love you Riley. I always will'
'I do to James'
I sit into the car and look at everyone. Its going to be strange without them.
I wave as we drive off. I take one last look at Riley and blow her a kiss. She smiles.
Goodbye Riley! Goodbye the next step! Goodbye school friends! Goodbye everyone!!!

Im on the plane to England. I open the front pocket of my bag to see what Riley had put in there. I smile. A math book. Of course she would. There was a note on it.

I open the page that she has marked. She has a bunch of sums marked for me to do. I then see a picture. I look at it. I smile. It was when we were on stage and I kissed her holding the internationals trophy. That was a good shot. She looks so cute in her dress. I wish I was still with her. I pull out my phone and send her a text.

I send it and lock my phone. I rest my head against the seat. I think back to that final dance. How emotional it was. How it was the last time that me and Riley would ever feel like that. I get drawn away from my thoughts as my phone vibrates.

For the last time
Now it really hits home. Thinking about it is one think. But hearing it is another. It hurts that it was the last time. But Im glad that it got us to win internationals.
