Kaia was up early the next morning. She wanted to text both Harry and Marian but when she went into the kitchen, she saw her shattered phone sitting on the counter. She went to get dressed and saw that Zayn was still sound asleep.  She wrote him a note that she was going to go and get her phone replaced and set it on the nightstand.

She checked on the twins and they were also still sound asleep. Just like their daddy.

She didn't immediately head to the phone store but found herself driving to the cemetery. She drove on the now snow covered road that led to William's grave.  As she got out of the car and walked towards it, her heart grew heavy.   She heard footsteps behind her, but didn't turn around.

"Kaia,  I...I...didn't think anyone would be here" Johanna said.

Kaia spun around and she couldn't help but feel her anger rose and then she berated herself as Johannah wasn't to blame for her anger.

"Hi," she said. "I ....I need to go."

"No, don't" Johannah urged.  "Please stay, I'm sorry,  I just woke up this morning with the urge to talk to my grandson," she said blinking back her tears. Everything had gone so terribly wrong this year.

Kaia swallowed the huge lump that had now formed in her throat. She nervously reached out and took a hold of her hand and gave it a squeeze.  "I had the same urge," she said looking back at the small grave.

"We lost him to soon, he never even had the chance to show us all what he could do," she said wiping away a tear.  "I just keep picturing him with that little grin he had. Always such a happy baby, I can't even imagine how Marian is doing. To lose a child is the worst thing I can imagine," she said as the sadness continued to fill her heart.  She bent down and touched the gravestone.  "How...Is Marian?"

Kaia shoved her hands in her coat pockets as a cold breeze blew through.  "Johannah I am truly sorry for your loss," she said. "I know how much you loved Will. He was a very special boy."  She watched as Johannah brushed the snow off of the small mound of dirt that covered William and it broke her heart.  "To be honest, I don't know how Marian is at the moment."

"I know, she is like a sister to you. Louis told me all the time that Marian thought very highly of you. So that meant your were special to him as well, no matter how hard you were on him." She said with a hint of sadness in her voice.  "I love my son, Kaia and I can't explain why all of this happened.  I don't know why it did." She said almost pleading with her.  "He loved her so much, I thought he finally found his footing in life," she said and placed a small rock on the headstone.  It was last thing she had left of her son, for the moment anyways.

"I know he's your son and I know how much you love him, but If he loved her so damn much, why didn't he stay instead of running away like a coward?" Kaia asked, her voice rising in anger. "Why did he leave her when she needed him the most? I love him like a brother Johannah, but this.....I don't think I can ever forgive him for this. I'm sorry."

Johannah burst into tears.  "I...I don't know.  I feel like I have lost my son, my grandson and even my future daughter in law all within the span of a month.  Something inside of him broke when William died. He told me he could not watch Marian fight for her life. He was too afraid of losing her like he lost William."  she turned and looked at Kaia.  "I wish I had the answers but I don't.   I had hoped to find them here with William."

"Where is he?" She asked trying not to sound angry.   "I....is he alright? Please just tell me he hasn't done anything else stupid."

"He just told me, he needed to go away.  Away from the public eye, away from everyone and everything.  He needed to clam the chaos in his mind." She said.  "He promised to call me once a month, so I wouldn't worry about him. Like I wouldn't always be worrying about him. He is my baby and I will always worry about him.  I love him, just as much as you love your own son."
