Chapter 2

Louis kissed his son once more and then handed him back to the nurse. Before leaving he turned back once more and couldn't help but grin. 

"I love you William," he said and couldn't help but kiss him again. He looked up and saw the nurse smiling at him.

"You have a very handsome son."

"Thank you," he said and then went to find Marian. On his way out he saw Kaia standing at the window. He turned and motioned to the nurse to bring William to the window. She nodded at him. He didn't think that Kaia even saw him at first.

"Kaia?" He said quietly and touched her arm as the nurse brought his son to the window.

She turned to him and smiled and then turned back to look at the small baby in front of her. Her hand instinctively touched the clear glass. She felt her heart clench and she felt her eyes well with wetness. "He's so beautiful Lou," she said. "He's a perfect mixture of the both of you."

Louis looked back at his son who took the opportunity to yawn and stretch out his tiny arms.

"I'm sorry," she whispered.

"Why are you sorry?" He questioned.  Very confused by her words.

She turned to look at him. "For every horrible thing I've ever said or thought and......"

Louis held up his hand to stop her. "It's alright," he said. "I probably deserved every horrible thing you ever said or thought."

She shook her head and looked back at William. "No you didn't. Especially now. You have a son. A beautiful son with my best friend and you've made her so happy."

He didn't know what to say. He was almost speechless. 

"Take care of her Lou," she said and turned and walked down the hallway away from him.

For as long as he lived he didn't think he would be able to figure her out. He looked back at William once more and smiled at the nurse as if to cue her to put him back in his crib. He then made his way to Marian's room.

He stood in the doorway and looked at her. Her color was better and he couldn't help but smile. He went and sat down next to her bed and took her hand in his. He kissed it, letting his lips linger.

"Oh Snowflake," he said softly.

Marian woke up to the sound of Louis' voice. Her body ached all over and she  moved her hand down to belly, realizing her bump was gone.

"The baby, what happened to the baby?" She asked still slightly groggy.

He stood up and moved closer bending down to kiss her.

"Our son is safe and sound in the nursery," he said and then couldn't stop the tears that began to fall.  "I love you Snowflake.  God I love you so much."

Marian breathed a sigh of relief.  "I love you so much Monkey.   How amazing is our son?  I can't wait to see him."  She said taking his hand.  "What about my parents and Kaia. Are they here?"

He smiled. "He is amazing. He has an amazing mother.  I don't know how to thank you for our son.  He's beautiful," he said. "Everyone is here. They're all waiting downstairs."

"Good. I'm glad they are going to be able to see our beautiful amazing son." She said smiling.  "How are you doing? Did the doctors say anything as to why I passed out and needed an C-section?"

"You have an infection," he said. "It caused you to have an antepartum hemorrhage and that's why you passed out. They...they don't know how long you've had it. They had to do the c section or else William could've gotten the infection as well. But so far no signs of it in his little body."  He gently stroked her hair. "I...I thought I was going to lose you."
