Chapter 45

Marian had a line on a condo in the city, she was supposed to be seeing it next week during an open house.  She had called her parents who had just come home from their amazing worldwide cruise. Her father was still furious that Louis hadn't contacted anyone. He thought they had connected, but she was able to calm him down with the promise of visiting them soon. She just needed to find out when Zayn and Kaia were going to be out of the country, because the moment they were gone, she was heading off to the airport and getting on the first plane California despite what she had told them.  Harry hadn't called or texted and she had pretty much given up all hope of a relationship with him again.  Better to be alone she thought to herself.

She looked over at Ahmir who was playing with some Legos with a small sigh. She would miss her little buddy the most, he gave her immense joy and she would do anything for him.  "Ahmir are you hungry? Do you want to cuddle and watch some cartoons?" She asked.

"Yes," he clapped.

"Alright, I will grab us some cantaloupe and be right back."

Marian walked into the kitchen and noticed Zayn having another one of his mumbled conversation on the phone. She shrugged it off and grabbed the bowl of fruit from the fridge and returned to her little munchkin.

Zayn watched Marian get something to eat and then quickly exit the kitchen. He quickly said goodbye to Harry and followed her.  "Marian," he said. "Got a minute?"

"Anything for you, Zayn," she smiled. "I am just bringing some fruit to Ahmir."

"Listen, um," he said as he glanced at his son who was staring at the TV. "I need a favor."

Marian tried to not roll her eyes at him. Afraid it was something to do with Ahmir.  "Okay."

"Will you come with me?" He asked. "I need your help picking out some jewelry for Kaia for our anniversary trip."

"Just go with your heart Zayn, Kaia will love anything you get her." Marian said.  Even though she didn't think she deserved anything that Zayn gave or did for her after discovering what was on her phone. "To be honest, I think she has enough jewelry."  She walked over to Ahmir and picked him up, giving him kisses on his cheek which made him giggle.

Zayn stood in the doorway. "She does," he said. "But I want to give her something really special when we're in Morocco. Please Marian. We can bring your best friend there," he said with a smirk. "Please Marian. We'll even get ice cream."

Marian rolled her eyes at him.  "Fine, but you have to change Ahmir." She smirked as he looked over at him. His shirt covered in cantaloupe pieces and the juice rolling down his cheek.

"Deal," he said and picked up his son and went to change his son. He quickly shot Harry a text to let him know he was heading out with Marian. He gathered up a diaper bag and sent Kaia a text telling her he was taking Marian and Ahmir out for ice cream.  He found Marian waiting in the kitchen.  "Ready?"

Marian put a bottle of water in her purse. She often found herself dying of thirst thanks to the side effects of the chemo, so she always traveled with something to drink in her purse.  "You are so lucky, I love you or this would not be happening." She smirked  "I'm ready"

Zayn carried Ahmir out to the Range Rover and strapped him in his car seat and then got into the driver's seat. He glanced at the clock. They had two hours.  "Yeah I know," he said. He drove them out of the gate and headed towards downtown London. "Thanks for going with me," he said.

"Of course, Zayn." She said.  "So where are we going first?" 

"The place that she got my wedding ring at," he said with a smile. "I want to see what they have. See if anything catches my eye."
