AN: I'd just like to say thank you ever so much for reading and for all the lovely comments because I really do value them all and for the lovely votes you've sent my way too, because if I'm honest it's kinda scary posting things on here hoping that people will enjoy it and people as nice as you all make it so worthwhile. Also, I'd like to dedicate this chapter to @xMalfoyssweetheartx, because her comment a little while ago actually inspired me to write this so thank you :0) Also a big warm thank you to @court_moviegirl, @emilyjane721, and @sherlockshairruffle for being so lovely and very encouraging :0)

Thursday. Midday. Barnet.

"Rosalind" Dad said, again to my surprise, I'm going to have to get used to this whole names thing with him.

"Michael"

"Come sit, I want to have a word with you" he said somewhat sternly which got me thinking.

"Dad, are you mad at me or something?" I asked, taking another spoonful of my honey nut cornflakes, sitting opposite him at the tiny table in the corner of the kitchen, laden with post, notebooks and abandoned stationary.

"Of course not, you left the last red velvet cupcake from the batch your mother made that I've been undressing with my eyes all morning alone so we're good friends" he said and I faintly laughed.

"Well, um what is it then?" I asked.

"You're not going back to Hampstead"

"Wait, what. Ever?" I asked, somewhat confused. This isn't 'the Sims' I can't just leave it all, not that I want to; I worked really hard for that house and circumstances aside I love my house, it's more like a glorified broom cupboard but well...it's mine and Merlin's glorified broom cupboard.

"No, as in anytime soon" he added, stroking his beard.

"Sorry, but could you explain dad?"

"You're still only on crutches for a few days until you get your boot which I can tell you're dying to get, Ben works crazy hours and Merlin won't be able to exercise properly if he can't get his minimum two walks a day. Not to mention you're. You're clearly not as "fine" as you're making out" he added and I sort of sat there.

"I don't want to upset you but I'm just trying to be honest; if it's just you and Merlin at home all day or you go to work, unless Phoebe has him there's a good chance he's going to end up in an office all day." he quietly said, fiddling with a pen.

"But, Mrs Hudson?" I asked, that reminds me I need to text her back.

"You know when we mentioned her seeing Merlin?" he asked and I nodded

"Yeah"

"Well she came here, in that heinous eyesore she calls a car!" he said and I simply laughed. When it comes to cars dad may aswell be on Top Gear.

"Such a car snob, just because you drive a fancy Porche, there's nothing wrong with a reliable VW Polo, I drive one"

"Ah come on, anything would be better than that god awful thing she drives, and hey your mother drives one too so I'm not the only snob; and wait, yours is only a few years old, hers is older than you and literally falling apart!" he said and I laughed again, they (Porche's) are pretty good cars if I'm honest.

"Anyway, we tried bringing Merlin to her and well...about halfway there he could sense that he wasn't in a safe place, his whole demeanor just changed and we weren't about to force him to be in Hampstead especially without you. He doesn't want to be there and I don't want him there unless I know that at least you can cope with being there. I know that you certainly don't and we don't treat him like a human child but he is like my four legged grandson and I don't want him to be somewhere he's not happy to be."
