AN: I thought this was going to be a short chapter but as usual it's sort of not (really not), thank you very much for reading as always though and I hope you like it! :0)
Thursday evening. The house.
Opening the front door I paused for a moment.
"Wait"
"What?" Bridge and Finn asked in unison.
"I can smell a baby and a puppy, I swear to Loki I can smell a puppy. Oh my god!" my eyes widened and I was in heaven, Merlin was the cutest puppy ever, seriously, he was the cutest of the cute. He still is though, no dog would ever be cuter than Merlin. But still, puppy puppy puppy!
"Oh for godsake Rosie, such a freak" Bridge snorted as she and Finn walked in past me and Merlin looked at me wondering why I was being weird.
"Sorry Merlin, I'll stop being weird" I smiled, stroking his head for a moment.
"Rosie"
"Pascal?"
"Would you like some help?" he asked, gesturing to my damp quilted jacket I was trying to take off.
"Um yeah, that'd be great thank you" I smiled and he nodded, we got chatting for a little while whilst I got Merlin a little dry, he's pretty cool when I got to talk to him properly. He's been in the "minding" business for about 25 years now and has a wife called Annika and a daughter called Seraphina, she's 12. He's a dog person too.
"So if you're doing this all the time, when do you see your family and friends?" I asked as we sat on the stairs.
"Well, I'm only here as long as you need me you know? I mean sometimes I've had to be away a lot longer than I'd like but this is the job I chose to do a long time before I became a husband and a father. They mean the world to me of course but we can't spend every waking minute together." he smiled and I nodded.
"You're pretty cool Pascal" I said and he faintly smiled.
"Glad to know, you're pretty cool too Rosie. I thought you hated me earlier today" he quietly said and now I felt bad.
"No, not at all. I just really couldn't of been less in the mood to talk to anyone I did know let alone meet someone I never knew. It wasn't you, yeah I was just um, a little miserable is all. I'm sorry if I made you feel awkward, I didn't want to, you were sort of thrust upon me. I am glad you're here though." I said and he faintly nodded.
"That's understandable, I got a call out of nowhere from Ben and after a talk with Michael we agreed I'd come over today, I take my job seriously so I'm never bored, you had that twinge of 'this person is being paid to just watch over me how bored must he be?!' guilty look to you. Don't worry though, it takes a lot to bore me, my mother-in-law doesn't bore me and believe me she'd bore you senseless!" he faintly laughed and I smiled.
"Is it just a rule that people hate their in-laws?" I asked and he smiled as Merlin rested his head in my lap which was rather sweet, he's always so warm.
"It might be, I suppose some people are just lucky when they click, like you and Ben's parents" he said and I blushed, stroking Merlin's head for a while.
"Um, we're not married Pascal"
"I know, but the way Ben talks about you and his family, not just his parents but his extended family you might aswell be" he smiled and I faintly nodded.
"That's um, nice to hear" I said even though it felt strange.
"And a little awkward am I right?" he asked and we both shared a light laugh.
