Thursday. Afternoon.
"Alright Chewbacca?"
"My hair's not that bad Bridge!" I laughed as she came in the front door and we headed to the kitchen and sat at the island.
"It kind of is, I mean you don't look like a total hobo but you're getting there" she winked and I failed to stifle a laugh.
"I've missed you too" I smiled, leaning over to hug her, I really do need to get a haircut though, it's getting too long. There's definitely a fine line between boho and hobo.
"Anyway, how are you?" I asked, fiddling with the keyring on her bag.
"Honestly, I've never been so happy to be in London"
"I can't believe you were there for nearly two weeks though!" I said, trying not to giggle, it was funny thinking that she just wanted to leave.
"Because Marc opened his stupid big mouth and said we can both work remotely so it wouldn't be an issue staying there; oh god it was walks in the woods at 5AM everyday to connect with nature and banal chit chat over dinner at night, I'm engaged to a lawyer who happens to be their son, why do they think I'd want to spend every night talking politics? I get it enough with him at the best of times, I respect his work but you know what I mean" she sighed which made me want to laugh.
"Oh the things you have to endure for him eh? You poor poor thing" I said without a hint of sorrow, she was being a bit of a drama queen. Only a little though.
"Such a great friend you are Rosie" she rolled her eyes as I simply stuck my tongue out.
"I know I'm awesome. Did they really bore you that much?" I asked, pouring her a glass of water and pouring myself one.
"Well yes. I mean I respect Marc and his family a lot and I do care about them all but he's so unlike them, he's a little reserved but they're just so I don't have a word for it; they're definitely not Gen or Mike" she smiled and I nodded. I feel bad admitting it but it's so true, they're lovely people but a little well...boring and sort of don't know when to let people do what might interest them instead of having things go their way.
"I take it your red wine potty mouth came out then?" I asked and she blushed which meant a big fat whopping yes.
"Well, not so much but a little. I sort of bluntly said that the funny thing is mine and Marc's child will be our responsibility so I'm not popping one out anytime soon so they can fawn over a newborn to pass the time" she stated and my jaw dropped.
"Wow, I didn't think you had that level of sass in you, sure you're not a Laufeyson?" I asked, staring at her through my magnifier charm on my necklace as she laughed, batting my hand away.
"I'm sure I'm not, I'd have better hair if I was for starters. At least I didn't swear or storm off, I just took my glass of wine to our room and got Marc to give me a foot massage" she calmly added and I nodded.
"I suppose he knows where his duties lie then" I said and she smiled.
"I like to remind him that he's useful for something" she winked, making me breathe a light laugh. She's definitely got some Laufeyson in her, I'm surprised she didn't just state she's burdened with glorious purpose there and then.
"You know you could've just gone to see Tim and Wanda, you've known them longer than I have seeing as they wouldn't of been far from you?" I asked as she stroked Merlin's head who came downstairs a while ago to have some food and get a little love.
"Ha! I did! I was so glad to see them it was unreal! I just needed a laugh and well we know that those two will always make you smile about anything" she well smiled, as did I.
