Maya:
"Okay. Recapping. So the wedding will be held at the church near the high school. It'll be a white and blue wedding theme with a big dance floor. Only a few people will be invited, consisting of close friends and family members. And also and after party." Stevie recapped and Shawn and I just nodded.
Excitement is now taking over my body. I can't wait for this wedding. To get to marry Shawn, to spend the rest of my life with him and starting a family with him.
He took my hand in his under the table and I couldn't help but smile as the heat rose up to my cheeks.
"Okay. Then it's all settled. Thank you for your choice of wedding planners, we're happy to help you make your perfect day even better." Stevie said shaking our hands. "Oh, yes. And the wedding date if I may ask?" He asked, closing up his pen and notebook.
I looked over at Shawn and he looked at me. Our minds connecting only with one thought.
"As soon as possible." We said in unison and laughed as Stevie smiled at us. As soon as possible is for us also a we don't really know.
"Any specific date or week?" Stevie asked again, pushing his glasses further up his nose. "Uhmm.. what about in two weeks. Any date in that week will be more than alright." Shawn said and I gave his hand a gentle squeeze under the table. I saw his smile growing right after I did that.
He's just so cute.
"Okay, wonderful. We'll find a date for you guys then" He said with a smile and we stood up, greeting him and also walking back to the car. The moment we arrived home and walked through the door I jumped up in Shawn's arms.
He spun me around s we laughed together. "We're finally getting married!" He exclaimed and laughed as he let me back down to floor. I cupped his face and just crashed my lips to his. "I can't explain my happiness right about now. My heart is literally pounding my chest." I laughed and he just kissed me again.
"Me to. I'm so excited. I mean getting to marry you, gosh, that is a dream come true for me." He said and I just smiled at him as our eyes locked on each others, making me blush. I walked to the kitchen to get us some water and snacks.
"Ah. Maya. Baby, there's someone here at the door claiming he's here to see you." Shawn yelled and I furrowed my eyebrows together in confusion as I walked out of the kitchen to the front door. Who could possibly be here to see me. I don't have anyone, Brian is gone, my mom is dead, my dad left and well I don't want to even ever see him again.
""Who is it I don't have anyone who needs to see m-" but before I could finish my sentence my eyes met the man standing n our doorway and I froze. "Hey Maya?" He said more like a question, as if he's unsure of me. Like he's asking if it's really me.
Doesn't he even remember how I look?
"D-Dad?" I questioned and he smiled at me. Clearly he thinks there's hope but I don't want him here. Why is he now suddenly wanting a part in my life?
"Hey darling." He said and wanted to step closer to me, but I stepped back and Shawn blocked the door. Preventing him from entering this pain free environment I built for myself with the help of Shawn.
"No. Stay back. You can't be here." I said and heard him sighing. I couldn't really see him because even Shawn is taller than him. We are a short family. "I know you don't want to see me Maya, and I understand that. Even though it hurts." He said and paused.
Hurt.
Ha, yeah like he knows how that feels.
"But I heard you're getting married. You can't walk down the isle alone Maya. I want to at least walk my one and only daughter down the isle on her wedding day." He said and anger was now boiling inside me. I think if you looked close enough you could see the steam coming out of my ears.
I don't want him here, near me or Shawn, or in my life.
I placed my hand on Shawn's shoulder and pulled him out of the way for he was still blocking the path between my dad and me. As I stood in front of him, he kept his had on my waist as he stood close behind me.
My dad can't just come and ruin this perfectly good day.
"Excuse me. You don't want me to walk alone?"I started, glaring at him before continuing.
"I've done everything alone! My whole life! Graduation, University, looking after mom, fighting battles and overcoming fears. You have no idea what I've been through dad. I don't even see my own brother anymore. Trust me dad, walking alone down the isle will be like baby steps." I said and he looked up into my eyes after staring at the ground the entire time.
He can't even look at me while I'm talking to him.
"Where were you? When I needed you? When mom and Brian needed you?" I yelled and he just looked down at the floor after taking a small step back. "God damn dad just look up at me!" I said loudly. "Maya." Shawn whispered in my ear and I closed my eyes. Taking a few breaths.
"Ever since this guy came into my life I didn't have to face everything alone. I had someone by my side and he didn't even knew me a day, yet he cared. I didn't have to ask him or force him to stand by me, he just did. He loved and cared for me when nobody did." I said and wiped the tear off my cheek.
"That's something you never did dad. You never called me on my birthday or wished me good luck with my studies. For this guy, he saved me. He pulled me right out of the bad, abusive hole I was in." I said and pointed up to Shawn standing beside me now.
I jut got rid of all the pain in my life and now, this is just taking another step. Getting rid of this to.
"I'm sorry dad. But you need to go." I said and he said his goodbye before walking away and I closed the door.
