CHAPTER 38

I tried to act normal as I gazed at them. Their worried eyes darted on us when they came toward us. It seemed like they’d been waiting for us and they wanted to say something.

“Where are the others?” I asked, referring to the LEs.

“They aren’t here yet,” Justin answered.

Maybe, they’re still at the organization. Were they plotting something now to lure us and to fight against us?

“Mizu left me when he received a call from Raiton. Hindi na rin siya bumalik. Akala ko narito na siya,” ani Jang, bakas sa mukha ang pag-aalala.

Nagkatinginan kami ni Sairi. Halata nga sa mukha nila at tono ng pananalita na wala pa silang alam. I wonder what would be their reaction if they find out.

“It’s pass ten in the evening. Hindi pa ba natin sila hahanapin?” nag-aalalang tanong ni Blaze.

“I’ve been trying to call them but they aren’t answering my calls. Maybe, we should report this to Prof. Bryce now,” ani Justin, seryoso ang tingin kay Sairi.

Sairi sighed. “Let’s wait fo them outside.” He paused, hesitating to continue. “We can’t break things here or destroyed this hotel. Just in case...”

I kept my mouth shut as I looked at their confused eyes. Sairi’s words were like a cipher to them that they needed to decipher. Hindi agad nila nakuha.

“What do you mean?” takang tanong ni Blaze.

“We’ve seen them entering to that organizations.” Ako na ang sumagot.

Nakaawang ang bibig na napatitig sila sa akin, pinoproseso ang sinabi ko, dahilan para tumahimik ang paligid.

“Only those who know the spell can enter there, and the six of them had chanted it effortlessly. We heard it clearly and saw them entering that organization in our eyes,” dagdag ko pa.

“You mean,” Jang paused, taking a deep breath. “the six of them are all traitors?”

I was silent for a moment, glanced at Sairi then back to her. “We aren’t sure yet. But I hope they aren’t.”

Alam kong kapag bumalik sila rito, agad ding malalaman ni Raiton at Kaze ang mga nalalaman namin ngayon. Mamaya, darating din sila. Mas mabuti ngang lumabas kami upang hindi makapinsala kung sakali mang labanan nila kami.

“That’s impossible, right?” naiiling na tanong ni Blaze. “They’re LEs! They can’t be the traitors!”

“I somehow find Mizu weird a while ago when we were together. I didn’t think that he could be,” saad ni Jang sa mahinang boses.

Justin looked at me for a moment, then diverted his gaze at Sairi. “We can’t easily conclude that they are. What if... just like the two of you, they just heard or found a map of that organization too and they just found the spell too as they roamed the city. It is possible!”

“Then why they didn’t call Sairi and inform him?” tanong ko rito. “Saka, magkahiwalay tayong naghahanap. Why did they gather in that place without informing us? They should’ve called us.”

Natahimik ulit kami nang biglang bumukas ang pintuan. Lahat kami ay napatingin doon at hinihintay ang pagpasok ng LEs. Seryoso ang mga mukha ni Raiton nang tumitig siya sa amin, walang mababakas na anumang emosyon. Kahit si Kaze ay ganoon din. Sina Mizu, Angie, Hikari at Michi ay nasa likuran lang.

“So you already found out,” saad ni Raiton sa malamig na boses at kay Sairi nakatingin.

“Yeah.” Tipid ang pagsagot ni Sairi.
