It was dark. Pitch black. That was all Caitlin could see. She didn't feel anything. It was just black. Barry on the other hand was feeling all of his emotions pile up. He was shaking and his face had flushed and it was now pale. He was holding Caitlin and then he looked up to a man walking over in his bathrobe with his wife standing just a few feet behind him.

"Sir, what happened?! Honey call the cops!" The man shouted.

Barry couldn't even answer the man as the woman grabbed her cell phone and dialed 911. Barry just sat there shaking. He was so scared and worried about Caitlin. He had never felt such an emotion or action ever in his life. Something changed in him. Barry did not feel like his jock rude careless self for once. The man went to Barry and Caitlin and started to put pressure on Caitlin's wound. Barry zoned out of his thinking and looks down at Caitlin in tears. The woman then ran over in a panic.

"The ambulance is on their way!!!" She shouted in fear.
Barry nodded slowly. The man then looked at Barry.

"Sir, you are bleeding too. Looks like it's coming from your leg." He said while examining Barry's deep wound.
Barry sighed.

"It's just a stab wound. No where near as bad as a gunshot wound in the gut." Barry said while looking at Caitlin. The man sighed and looked at his wife.

Finally, the ambulance came with cop cars following. Immediately a stretcher was pulled out by two doctors and they ran over to the porch where Barry and Caitlin were. After the man explained to the doctors what he saw happened, he went to his wife and they were holding each other while watching the doctors take Caitlin out of Barry's arms and setting her on he stretcher. Barry was in shock still and he slowly stood up with the help of another doctor.

"I want to ride in the ambulance with her." Barry ordered.

The doctor nodded and helped Barry into the ambulance after putting Caitlin in first. Barry immediately held Caitlin's hand and squeezed it. He was in complete worry and he didn't know what to do. He just continued to hope that she would be okay. He just wasn't sure, and the thought of losing her killed him.

Once they arrived to the hospital, the doctors got Caitlin out of the ambulance and took her inside. Another doctor helped Barry walk until they got to a wheelchair. Barry sat down and the nurse strolled him back to a room to check on the wound. The other doctors took Caitlin straight to a surgery room. They needed to get the bullet out of her as soon as possible.
Barry was tapping his foot on the ground impatiently thinking about Caitlin. The nurse looked at Barry.

"Sir I'm gonna need you to relax. I can't examine your leg if you're moving it." She said. Barry nodded and stopped tapping.
He began to play with his hands still impatient. He needed to see Caitlin. He couldn't even think about the uncle. All that was on his mind was Caitlin. He started to think of his favorite memory of her.
Caitlin was walking into school and Barry had gotten his first ever glimpse at her. It was back in their junior year. Barry was at his locker and Patty was nonstop talking to him. He was listening until he saw Caitlin walk by. She went to her locker, wearing a black hoodie, shorts, and white tennis shoes. Her hair was down and slightly knotty. She had little makeup on but she looked beautiful. All of the sounds around Barry had tuned out and he just looked at her. Caitlin had then made eye contact with him and she slightly smiled. She looked so kind and bright in that moment, but Barry looked away and started to listen to Patty babble again.
Now, Barry regrets that he ever looked away. He was such a rude person, especially to Caitlin. I mean seriously, she did his homework. Barry felt all of the guilt rise up into his chest and he let a tear fall.

"This is my fault." He muttered thinking outloud. The nurse looked at him.
"What?" She questioned confused. Barry let more tears fall.

"I could've been nicer! I could've been her friend! I could've been better! I shouldn't have gone to her house and yelled at her uncle! I shouldn't have looked away from her without smiling back when first saw her!" He shouted in tears. The nurse sighed and finished cleaning Barry's wound.

"Sir, you can't blame yourself. It's the last thing that she would want you to do." The nurse said before leaving. Barry looked down and threw his hands to his head.
"I need her." He thought to himself. TO BE CONT.
