Chapter 45 - Blinding Light

(POV Maia)

Hindi ko masyado na gets ang usapan ni Jared at Rave, but I am sure that they know who my father is. Hindi na ako nagtanong dahil Jared wants us to go back to Greece.

"Maia, be honest with me. Do you experience any unusual talent or power when you were a kid?" tanong ni Jared habang naglalakad kami sa stairs paakyat sa monastery.

"Ako? Wala naman, as in normal na tao lang ako. Hindi ko kayang magproduce ng Kamehameha Wave Jared. I am far from being a supernatural being just like you and Maddie."

"Your father, he is not an ordinary man."

"I know, kaya nga nag susuffer si mommy ngayon di ba?"

"Maia, I believe your mother is sleeping for a long period of time because he is with your father. He may have disappeared, but I think your mom is with him."

"Alam ko kilala mo kung sino ang tatay ko. Bakit di mo pa sabihin sa akin kung sino?"

Pero di na kumibo si Jared at hinawakan lang ang kamay ko papasok sa monastery. Andoon na din si Rave Clifford na naghihintay sa amin. I introduced him to Sister Agatha as Jared's friend.

"That's my mother, Melissa Saavedra," sabi ko kay Rave pagkapasok namin sa kwarto ni mommy. Si Sister Agatha naman ay iniwan kaming tatlo.

"Can I touch her hand?" tanong ni Rave sa akin and I just nodded as an approval.

Hinawakan ni Rave Clifford ang katawan ni mommy and within seconds, Rave's body is also glowing. The whole room is filled with blinding light.

"Would you like to meet your father, Maia?" tanong ni Rave sa akin nang mawala ang liwanag.

Tumango lang ako at hinawakan niya ang kamay ko, pero nagulat na lang ako nang biglang hinawakan din ni Jared ang isa ko pang kamay.

"I want to meet him too," nakangiti niyang sabi kay Rave.

Binalot uli ng liwanag ang buong kwarto at sa isang iglap, wala na kami sa loob ng monastery. Nasa isang malawak ng green fields kami na may ilang makukulay bulaklak.

Si Rave Clifford ay nakahawak sa kaliwang kamay ko samantalang si Jared naman ang nasa kanan. Rave does not show any reaction na parang familiar ang lugar sa kanya. Si Jared naman ay di mapigilan ang mamangha sa nakikita.

"Asan tayo?" bulong ko kay Jared.

"Paradise," nakangiti niyang sagot sabay pisil sa kamay ko. Obvious sa mukha niya ang excitement dahil parang nagteleport kami sa kakaibang lugar.

Ilang sandali pa ay dumating ang isang babae at isang lalake. Magkahawak din sila ng kamay and if I am not mistaken, these two beings are my parents.

"Mommy? Where are we?" naguguluhan kong tanong.

"Maia, I want you to meet you father. His name is Gideon," nakangiting sabi ng mommy ko.

"Mommy, why are you here? This man left you, he left us! Bakit magkasama pa kayo?"

"Maia, your father did not leave us. It is all my fault. I was the one who leave you. I am sorry, Maia. I was so selfish. Hindi ko alam na magkakaroon kami ng anak," abi ni mommy.

"I don't understand mommy. That man did not bother to show himself when you got pregnant. Iniwan niya tayo."

Mom looked at the man named Gideon as if asking for his help to explain everything to me. My mother looks so in love with him. I can somehow understand kung bakit siya sumama dito.

"Let me explain it to you, Maia," nakangiting sabi ni Rave Clifford sa akin.

"Gideon, your father is a guardian. A scribe of heaven to be exact. In other words, an angel. Bumaba siya dito sa lupa when one of the former guardians passed away. To be specific, she was killed by Jared's father. That is probably the time when she met your mother, Melissa. They fell in love and I know Gideon, he is a responsible man. He will chose his responsibility more than anything else. She probably left your mother to keep her safe."

"Maia, he's right," dagdag ni mommy kay Rave. "Gideon can't be with me as we are living in different worlds. But I love him, Maia. I love your father. I decided to end my life instead of living without him. And yet he saved me, he chose to be with me and I chose to stay with him. Hindi ko lang akalain na magkakaroon kami ng anak. We did not know that it was possible."

The visions that Jared showed me before, siguro ito yung time na mag papakamatay si mommy at niligtas siya ni Gideon.

"When I got pregnant, a small amount of Gideon's power was transferred to me. My human body cannot contain the power that is why I am glowing. My mind is also not sync with my body. In other words, his power is slowly destroying my human vessel and it is making me crazy. Gideon decided to put me into sleep and brought me in the Meteora monastery. Within the walls of the monastery, I am safe because Gideon's power is protecting me."

Sabi ko noon, I want to find a cure para maging normal si mommy. But now, I don't think I want that anymore. I can feel that she is really happy with him.

"Maia, we know it is difficult for you to grow up without any of your parents, but we always see to it that we will always protect you from afar," sabi ni Gideon. "The black smoke, this man's brother attempted to end your life multiple times. But we saved you, we protected you, because we love you. I hope you could forgive us."

He is right. The blinding light that dispersed the black smoke must be related to him.

Lumaki man ako na hindi masyado nakakapiling ang mommy ko or ang aking guardian father, knowing that they are happy together makes me feel happy. Knowing that they care for me and they protect me kahit sa malayo, it makes me feel complete.
